Les deux extrémités du balancier38 sont articulées aux galets porteurs39 par des axes 41 et 42. L'axe 41, articulé en son milieu sur une des extrémités du balancier 38, porteà chacune de ses extrémités, par l'intermédiaire d'une articulation, un galet39. Sur la fig. 9, on voit,à titre d'exemple, deux types différents d'articulation- a) L'extrémité de 41 est formée par une partie sphérique 43 sur laquelle tourne, grâce au coussinet en deux pièces 44, titi galet39. La partie sphérique 43 de l'axe 41 ainsi que, le coussinet 44 peuvent avantageusement être remplacés par Lin roulementà billes;
Vehicle fitted with at least one crawler belt. The invention relates to a vehicle provided ' i with at least one caterpillar belt; this vehicle is characterized by guide pulleys arranged at both ends of the belt and by rollers bearing the weight of the vehicle and pressing on the lower end of the belt, these rollers being mounted in a to </ B way > to see it oscillate around two axes, one arranged longitudinally and the other transversely in relation to the vehicle, in order to adapt to the unevenness of the terrain.
The accompanying drawing represents, to by way of example, several faith-mes of the object of the invention.

Fig. 12 shows a detail thereof and FIGS. 10, Il and-13 illustrate how it works. Fig. 14 is an overall elevation of the third embodiment.
Fig. 15 gives the plan.
Fig. 16 is a detail cut and the fi g. 17 a section through A . 4 of fig. 16. Figs. 22 and 23 show this embodiment on on a larger scale.
Figs. 18, 19 on the one hand, and 20, 21 on the other hand, represent two variants.
In the first embodiment, the rollers 4 are joined together by a rocker 1 , the cylindrical ends 2 of which are adjusted to soft friction in the central part of the 'shaft 8 of the rollers 4. The bearings 1 are articulated in their middle to the springs 5 by means of a shaft 6 mounted on the springs so to can rotate freely. These springs are themselves carried by the axle 7 of the vehicle by means of an articulated collar 8. They can therefore take with respect to to </ B > the axle of various angles.
The load supported by the springs 5 is transmitted directly and entirely to the balances 1 which themselves rest by their ends 2 on the shafts 3 of the rollers 4. The articulation 2 allows the rollers 4, turning around 2, to follow the unevenness of the ground transversely to the road. The axis 6 of the balance 1 allows the same effect in the longitudinal direction by allowing the rollers, by turning around 6, to move vertically, one in relation to < B> to the other, following the profile or the roughness of the road.
We thus obtain a support device ab absolutely flexible and able to follow transversely and longitudinally the profile of the ground on which the machine is moving.
A device similar to the previous one but comprising 6, 8, 10 and more rollers can be established very easily.
The large pulleys 9 (fig. 1 and 2) only serve here as a support and guide for the belt. Their relatively large diameter facilitates difficult passages. These pulleys are kept at the proper spacing by means of tensioners 10, articulated at their upper end on the axle 7 and having at the other end a cylindrical part 11 adjusted to gentle friction in the shaft 12. of the lice < B> 9. In this way, the large pulleys, too, can follow the transverse unevenness of the road by turning around the Il shaft while having the possibility of moving vertically in relation to each other, pivoting around the axle 7.
The drive of the endless belt is here obtained directly by means of a wheel with rollers 14 (fig. 1), fixed on the rotating part of the 'axle 7, whose rollers engage the teeth 15 of the belt 16. A roller 17 coming to rest on the outer race of the belt 16 maintains the latter at a suitable distance from the wheel 14. The roller 17 being fixed to the frame 18 by means of the column 20 and the part 19 holding the rigid axle, it is clear that the work of the springs 5 will have no influence on the proper functioning of this mechanism, especially if the flexibility and elasticity of the band are taken into consideration.
For machines with a fairly large power, the rubber teeth 15 of the belt 16 may not have the necessary resistance. This defect can be remedied by arming the teeth 15 of the belt with a metal insert 21 (fig. 1) embedded in the rubber on the sides of the toothing supporting the load.
There is also the possibility of combining with the canvas rubber teeth of the belt a metal chain 22 (fig. 4 and 5) articulated at points 23. This chain passes < B> to the inside of the toothing and is fixed to the latter by rivets 24. All the teeth of the belt are in this way joined together by a metal band so that the force transmitted to a tooth by the drive pinion 14 is distributed, by the chain, to all the other teeth of the endless belt. Sprocket 14 has its rollers provided for the passage of chain 22.
Figs. 6 and 7 represent another variant of the embodiment described. The axle 7 carries articulated on it, on each side of the belt, arms 25 at the end of which the rollers 26 and 27 are mounted idle. Two of these, 26, serve as a support and guide -to a chain to rollers 28, < / B> wide enough to allow passage of the teeth 15 of the belt and the teeth 29 of the drive pinion 14.
This dei-nier transmits the force directly to the chain rollers at two diametrically opposed points M, 392. The chain in turn drives the belt to through the teeth < B> 15 over a length varying with the magnitude of the effort to transmitted. The rollers 27, joined by an endless belt 30, ensure permanent contact of the belt 16 and the chain 28 .
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 8 to 13, the driving axle 50 is surrounded by a tube 33. At each end of this tube 33 is mounted so to be able to rotate freely, the double pendulum 34 at the ends of which are fixed the spring boots < B> 35, internally cylindrical.
The springs 36 press, on one side, against the bottom of the boxes 35 and, on the other, on the part 37, of which the lower part rests on the balan ciers 38 resting themselves on the support rollers 39. The parts 37 whose cylindrical upper part is adjusted to rubbing gently in the 35 boxes allow the springs 36 to ensure the suspension of the vehicle.
In addition, the parts 37 being guided over a great length in the interior of the boxes 35, ensure the guidance of the carrier trains formed by the rockers 38 and the rollers < B> 39 while allowing a certain lateral flexibility thanks to the cylindrical adjustment which also allows rotation of the parts 87 by the axis 40 around which he can move.
The two ends of the balance 38 are articulated to the carrier rollers 39 by axes 41 and 42. The axis 41, articulated in its middle on one of the ends of the balance 38, carries at each of its ends, by means of an articulation, a roller 39. In fig. 9, we see, to by way of example, two different types of articulation - a) The end of 41 is formed by a spherical part 43 on which rotates, thanks to the two-piece bearing 44, titi roller 39. The spherical part 43 of the axis 41 as well as the bearing 44 can advantageously be replaced by Lin bearing to balls;
b) The end of axis 41 carries a spinner 45 around which the cylindrical part 46 sorrel on the outside and on which turns with gentle friction the </ B> pebble 39.
The two combinations above allow the carrier rollers to take perpendicularly to their axis positions similar to to that of the diagram in fig. 10. Fig. It represents schematically, on the same ground, the position of the carrier rollers 39 fixed to friction hard on the axis 42 (fig. 9). This axis 42 has in its middle a ball joint which rotates inside a two-piece neck 47 forming one body with the balance 38. < / B>
The ball joint can be replaced by a ball bearing. The combination obtained with the axis 42 has the advantage of simplicity and is practically sufficient in many cases.
The drive of the endless belt is obtained by a self-adhering pulley which is made up of two parts mounted Pune on the central hub 48 and the other on a secondary hub 49 The latter is free on the central hub and can move on it longitudinally.
The central hub 48 and the part of the corresponding pulley are driven directly by a chain wheel 53 which receives its movement from the shaft 50 of </ B> the driving axle, via the pinion 51 and the chain 52.
The half-pulley fixed to the secondary hub 49, is driven by means of inclined planes 54 and 55, one fixed to the main hub 48 and the other to the secondary hub 49 (fig. . 9 and 12).
Automatic adhesion is achieved on the cone 56 of the endless belt-57. Indeed, the half-pulley corresponding to the condaire hub 49 is driven only by the intermediary of the inclined planes 54 and 55. As soon as there tends < B> when sliding, this half pulley, not being wedged on the central hub 48, follows the movement of the belt which has a tendency to to slow down compared to to the half-pulley, of the central hub 48.
The two hubs 48 and 49 moving at a certain angle one relative to the other cause the inclined planes 54 and 56 cc to slide over each other. which has the effect of bringing the half-pulleys closer together, thereby automatically increasing the adhesion of the 56 cone of the 57. belt.
The inclined planes are here arranged perpendicularly to the axis .; the nth effect can be obtained by putting them concentrically to the axis, which happens if we use a combination of lines to right and to </ B> left.
The lateral forces are received by two legs of faith-ce 58 and 59 (fig. 9) fixed on the one hand to the internal tensioners 60 near the pulleys and on the other hand articulated on the axle tube 33.
The tensioners 60 of one of the pulleys can also be articulated around axes 61 taken on the heads 62 of the closest opposite tensioners possible of the axle and all on the same line parallel to the axle as shown in fig. 9, on the right. The addition of the legs 59 and 58 does not in any way affect the oscillation of the large pulleys since the legs are articulated around the same axes as the tensioners 60 </ B> of these pulleys.
The passage of the ditches is ensured by two rollers 63 (fig. 8 and 9) rotating freely on their axis, the ends of which are fixed to springs 64, locked on the projecting part 65 (fig. 8) of the tensioners 60, by means of from straps to collar 66.
The effect of this device is first of all to prevent the large carrying pulleys of the endless belt from descending into the ditch, then to allow them to adhere to the opposite edge at an advantageous angle. The diagram in fig. 13 clearly demonstrates how this device works. This combination can be completed by adding to the front axle of the vehicle two types of runners terminated by large rollers and suspended under the axle at a certain distance from the ground . These skates are articulated around - their point of attachment and therefore can take various inclinations according to the profile of the terrain.
In the faith-denial of execution represented by fig. 14 to 17, the weight of the vehicle is transmitted to the carrying system of each of the tracks by an axle 1 " fixed to the frame 2 'by a support 3' < / B> and by a 4 'balancer articulated on the 1' axle.
This balance 4 'ends at each of its two ends by two cylinders 5' coupled together. In these cylinders move 6 ' hollow plungers on which guide keys are fixed. rectilinear 7 ' (fig. 16)' which can slide in the grooves 8 ' provided to for this purpose in the cylinders 5 '.
The lower part of the 6 ' divers carries a 9' Faxe around which the 10 'balances can turn.
As can be seen in the figures, the axes of the twin rollers are not parallel but intersect and form an angle, the apex of which is directed upwards.
A the inside of the 6 ' plungers is housed in a 13' spring topped with a 14 'guide pot. The latter, under the pressure of the spring 13 ', comes to press on one end of a small one-piece balance 18' which can oscillate around an axis fixed to remains in the walls of the upper part of the cylinders 5 ' and perpendicular to the axis of < / B> the vehicle axle. The 17 ' bolts connect the 16' cover to the 5 'cylinders.
As can be seen, the load received by each roller will be (the 1 ", of the load transmitted by each end of the axle, that is to say of ', '16 of the total load supported by the axle On loose terrain, as is almost always the case, the load distribution on the rollers will be to roughly constant thanks to the articulated balariciers 10 ' and 4' and the transverse compensator 18 '.
While ensuring the constant distribution of the load on the different rollers regardless of the unevenness of the ground in both directions, the twin rollers are made completely independent of each other, which allows the movement of one without influence in any way its neighbor located on the other side of the inner guide of the track. Moreover , the height displacement of each roller is done in a straight line, vertical, consequently without lateral friction against the endless belt guide.
On excessively rough terrain, so as not to subject the track to exaggerated tensions, stops will be provided to limit the travel of all the components according to the unevenness of the ground. A this effect, the upper part of the plungers 6 ' will come up against the bottom of the cylinders 16', as will the compensator 18 ', in its extreme races, will also encounter the same 16' cylinder bottom which will serve as a stop.
On the other hand, the lower 10 balances will have their large amplitudes limited by the hard bottom outer part of the divers against which the 10 ' balances will rest. It is obvious that all these stops will have to be judiciously established so as not to hamper the movements of all the components on even very rough terrain.
The rollers 12 'are mounted with ball joints on their axes. A this effect, in the hub 19' (fig. 16) of the roller 12 'is housed the outer ring of the to ball bearing 20'. The inner prison is wedged on the axis Il, secured to the balance 10 ' by means of a piece 22' (fig. 16 </ B > and 17) held in place by the nut 23 'and the key 24'.
This 22 'piece has two flats on which is engaged, with gentle friction, a ring2t'î' carries to this effect an opening does not allow not to the ring 25 'to turn but only to slide in the vertical direction. The corresponding end of the 19 ' hub comes internally - to adjust, to very soft friction, on the 25' part.
The advantage of this combination is to always automatically arrange the axis. rotation of the roller parallel to the raceway.
Indeed, the part 25 'allows the roller to oscillate, on its to ball bearing, only in the vertical direction and allows it, consequently under the influence of part of the weight of the vehicle, to follow the variations of the track. The stroke itself, in the direction of oscillation, is limited by the length of the inlet, in the 2.5 'part so that the balls cannot go out of their raceway. In normal operation, all the weight being supported by the bearing with balls 20 ', the friction between the hub 19' and the part 25 'is at </ B> fear near zero.
On faith-your ground unevenness, the top or bottom of the entry of the ring 26 'can alternately come to rest on the corresponding part of the central part 22'. In this case, part of the load will be received by the guide ring 25 'and there, corresponding part of the hub 19'. It can be seen that, thanks to at the inclination of the axis, the lubricating oil will have no tendency to to come out, and will ensure proper lubrication of the system.
Lubrication of the entire carrier gear is ensured automatically and in proportion to the number and to the importance of the oscillations produced by the road.
A device using the reciprocating movement of the 6 ' plungers in the 5' cylinders is provided for this purpose (fig. 16). This device includes inside 'each plunger 6' and held in place, by the spring 13 ', < / B> a tubular body 26 ' (fig.- 16) able to communicate by its base with the inner chamber of the 6' plunger in the which and on a height of a few hundred meters is the oil necessary for lubrication.
A inside the ular tubular body 26, at the bottom, rests, on a seat, a 27 'ball. [Tri tube 28' : fixed to the cover 16 ' can immerse in the tubular body 26'. The upper part of this tube is in communication with the oil line.
The operation is as follows : When, even with the effect of the unevenness of the road, the spring 13 ' compresses, it occurs to </ B> a slight pressure inside the plunger which has the effect of pushing a certain quantity of oil back into the tubular body 26 '. When the opposite effect occurs, the ball falls back on its seat and the oil pledged in the tubular body cannot cry back down.
In operation, the reciprocating displacement of the plunger 6 ', taking place # without interruption and in proportion to the. Bad road conditions, so send oil, in a quantity proportional to the upper part of the pipe 28 ' oh it goes from there < / B> on the one hand through the hole 29 'at the axis 15' of the balance 18 ' which it lubricates to fall then on the 14 'pot, the walls of which are greased vent as well as those of the 6'; plunger (the other part via the channels 30 '(fig. 14) which bring it to the central balance, lubricated thereby.
Here is collected in pre-seen grooves to this effect and ' on which are grafted other channels 31' which bring it back to the point of starting, that is to say to the 5 'cylinders. The latter are provided at their base with Lin-gland preventing the oil from escaping and also serving stop at the key 7 ' in the case of too great a trigger of the spring 13'.
The execution faith of fig. 14 and 15 consists of an ordinary automobile on which a crawler belt has been installed, A this effect, the rear axle of the machine is used as the driving axle. The wheels are replaced by driving pulleys which can rest on the ground, with the interposition of the track, by their own weight and that of the axle, or be suspended at suitable height by means of the support 34 '(fig. 14), flexible yes rigid, adjustable or not.
In any case, these pulleys and therefore the axle will have the possibility of lifting to a certain height, under the effect of the unevenness of the ground, without influencing the rest of the vehicle.
The height travel of the driving axle can be limited by an elastic buffer 35 '(fig. 14) fixed to the frame.
The connection of the driving axle to the rest of the machine can be obtained by a semi-rigid leg of faith articulated on the carrying axle the yes around an axis close to it. This pushing leg is made up of two rigid parts 36 'and 37 (fig. 15) solidly joined by a spring blade 88' mounted on the field.
We see that in normal operation the strut 36 ', 37, 38' works only on compression. The elastic part may undergo a certain torsion necessitated by the possible angular displacements of the drive axle in relation to the fixed axle, under the influence of the inequalities of the ground.
The set of front pulleys 39 'is connected to the carrier axle 1' by a system made up of two beams 40 '(fig. 14 and 15) arti- - abutments at the carrying axle 1 '. The other end of the beams 40' (fig. 22 and 23) carries the tension system of the caterpillar, which also provides a rigid connection between the joists that it joins together by a set described below.
The transverse rigidity of the beams 40 'is still ensured by a spacer of any section 47' (fig. 14, 15, 22 and 23), shown tubular here. This spacer still has the task of limiting the travel of the front pulley relative to the carrier train.
A this effect stops 48 '(fig. 14 is 15) have been provided on the cylinders 5'. These stops can be adjustable and the lower ones can be arranged in such a way that the front pulley is suspended above the ground at a certain height, any cry being able to execute, under the influence of the unevenness of the ground, upward movements independently of the rest of the ground. all. Large upward movements are limited by the upper stop.
The front pulley is made up of two half pulleys 39. The part 49 'corresponding to each front pulley (fig. 22 and 23) is connected rigidly to a tension system.
Each end of the hub body 49 'internally carries a ball bearing 50' (flo-. 2â) on which the rotating hub 51 'fits. In order to avoid any jamming in the two 50 ' bearings (one per half-pulley) while keeping the two pulleys, mad with respect to to the other, the two rotating hubs are crossed, in their midst, by a single 52 axle mounted to rubbing gently on the two rotating hubs.
We see that this combination allows the rotational independence of the two half-pulleys 39 ' one relative to to the other all cry ensuring the normal functioning of the two bearings.
The assembly of the denii-pulleys 39 ' on the rotating hub 51' is designed to facilitate the assembly and disassembly of the track which depends only on the external half-pulley before, because the latter being raised the installation of the track will not present any difficulty. The 39 ' half-pulleys are held in place by a simple 53' locking nut (fig. 23). The latter being removed, the tension there belt-ex-eree on the pulleys will be enough to automatically release the 54 'core.
The worm 41 '(fig. 22 and 23) of the tinée to the tension of the belt is wedged by an outer crank 42 ". The worm 41 'attacks a nut 42' (fig. 22) coming to engage on a threaded cylinder or tension screw 43 'which ends on the side of the pulley with a square of great length 44'. The latter part can smooth in the fixed guide 45 'permanently blocked on the housing 46' in which are hermetically sealed orgaties described.
The threaded and grooved cylinder 43'-44? is blocked on the fixed central part 49. of the pulley support 39 '.
We saw above that the body of the tension system served as a link to the beams 40 '. In addition, by its extension of the op side posed to the front pulley, it comes to rest on the spacer 47 'thus forming a very rigid whole.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 18 and 19, the undercarriage is to two pairs of twin rollers only. In this case, the axis of each roller is mounted directly on the lower part of the corresponding 6 ' plunger. There y therefore has four bearing surfaces per device, that is to say eight per carrier axle. The main balance wheel 4 'here alone provides to the longitudinal oscillations while the transverse compensating system obtained by means of the 18' balance wheels remains as in the previous case.
The embodiment of FIGS. 20 and 21 is intended for narrow tracks which do not require transverse compensating devices. There are therefore no twin pebbles, but only 4 pebbles arranged to one after the other. In order to bring the rollers as close as possible to one another and to reduce the total length of the assembly, the two central rollers each have only one cheek and are arranged in such a way that these cheeks are on either side. on the other side of the caterpillar as shown in fig. 20 and 21.
The other two rollers have no cheek at all and partly penetrate behind the cheeks of the large front and rear pulleys.
