- the invention relates to a low-voltage circuit breaker with a fixed and movable contact piece and an arc quenching chamber with arc quenching plates with V-shaped cutouts and recesses opposite these.
- offset edge recesses are provided in the arc quenching plates at the upper end of the plates in order to allow the gases to flow away. Since the recesses are only partially delimited by the metallic plates, effective arc cooling and deionization cannot occur here either. The cooling takes place here by a relatively large volume of the arc extinguishing device.
- the object of the invention is to provide an arc extinguishing device of the above-mentioned type which requires little space and thereby achieves effective cooling and deionization of the arc gases. This is achieved in a simple manner in that the recesses consist of a large number of small holes. The space requirement is further reduced if the arc extinguishing plates extend with their longitudinal direction parallel to the contact opening direction, with the V facing the contact point. By deflecting the arc, further cooling of the arc is achieved at the same time. For this purpose, it is also advantageous if an arcing horn connected to the fixed contact piece outside of the most distant arc extinguishing plate ends in a plane parallel to the arc extinguishing plates.
