Definitions
- the invention relates to a closure for containers or the like. According to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- the invention relates in particular to a one-piece one-hand closure made of a plastic material for closing containers for liquid or pasty goods.
- rocker arm locks are known (WO 81/00995) in which a rocker arm is held as a separate component in a cap part by means of a snap fit.
- a major disadvantage of this type of closures is the need to manufacture several parts separately and to assemble them in a separate assembly process. It is also known (DE-U-80 24 272) to connect the rocker arm to the cap part via a film hinge, part of the flow path being sealed to the outside by a hose-like flexible wall between the rocker arm and the container interior.
- a one-piece closure is also known (FR-A-2 510 520), in which a sealing cone with a gripping projection, which engages in the mouth opening of a container, is formed on a flexible wall of the cap part, to which an external force can be exerted in order to move the sealing cone out of the sealing relationship by turning the flexible wall inside out.
- the invention has for its object to provide a container closure of the type mentioned, which can be manufactured economically and is improved in terms of functionality and ease of use.
- the sealing arrangement which preferably comprises a sealing cone engaging in the mouth opening of the container, can be moved under an external force because of the flexible, reduced-thickness wall region relative to the otherwise dimensionally stable bottom wall of the cap part, without the fitting part of the cap part being thereby impaired in any way becomes.
- the flexible wall area can be turned between two stable positions, which correspond to the release and closing positions of the sealing arrangement.
- the sealing arrangement is connected on the one hand by the flexible wall area and on the other hand via a hinge joint to the cap part.
- the flexible wall area can be the carrier of the pouring element. This further facilitates handling by the pouring element taking part in the movement of the flexible wall area and, for example, being pivoted sideways away from a vertical position when the sealing arrangement is in the release position, so that the closure can be handled similarly to a watering can.
- the invention is based on a plug connection between the closure and container described in connection with a customized configuration of the container mouth end.
- the container bearing the general reference number 102 has an upper end or end wall 103 which is connected to the side wall of the container 102 to form a shoulder.
- a through or mouth opening 105 is provided in the end wall 103 and is surrounded by a flange-like axial peripheral wall 106.
- the peripheral wall 106 merges at its end facing away from the end wall 103 into an extension which undercuts a recess 110 in the cap part 101 when the cap part is fastened on the container.
- the cap part 101 is a substantially dimensionally stable component with an edge wall region 108 with a radially inwardly projecting bead at its free lower end, which can snap-fit under a radially outwardly projecting projection of the container 102, around the cap part 101 relative to the container 102 to fix.
- the cap part 101 further comprises a dimensionally stable bottom wall 109, in which a likewise basically dimensionally stable sealing arrangement 111 with an sealing cone 113 and a base wall 115 is held integrally.
- the dimension of the sealing cone 113 is matched to the dimension of the mouth opening 105 of the container 102 in such a way that the sealing cone 113 can come into sealing engagement with it in order to close the mouth opening 105.
- the sealing arrangement 111 is connected to the bottom wall 109 of the cap part 101 by a flexible, reduced-thickness wall region 112 which extends circumferentially of the sealing arrangement 111.
- the flexible wall area 112 can hold the sealing arrangement 111 in two stable end positions with respect to the cap part 101 by being designed such that it snaps from one end position to the other when a certain external force is exerted on the sealing arrangement 111. This is achieved in that the flexible wall region 112 has a flat, elongated configuration in both end positions and is in no aligned relationship with the adjacent bottom wall 109 of the cap part 111 in both end positions.
- the flexible wall area 12 is shown in the end position which is turned down, ie in the direction of the container 102.
- the flexible wall area 112 is received in the recess 110 of the cap part 101 and the sealing cone 113 sealingly engages in the opening 105 of the container 102.
- the flexible wall area 112 lies on the lateral surface of a cone diverging away from the container 102.
- FIG. 2b shows the flexible wall area 102 in the other end position, in which the sealing cone 113 has been moved out of the sealing relationship with the mouth opening 105 of the container 102.
- the flexible wall area 112 lies on the lateral surface of a cone diverging to the container 102. In this position, the flexible wall area 102 protrudes upward from the cutout 110 of the cap part 101 and the closure is preferably shaped.
- a pouring element 116 with a passage passage 117 which preferably has the shape of a tubular pouring spout, is also eccentrically formed on the sealing arrangement 111.
- the passage passage 117 opens out on the underside of the flexible wall area 112 into the cutout 110 of the cap part 101.
- the pouring element 116 has a diameter which essentially corresponds to the width of the flexible wall area 112, so that this is reduced to a film hinge-like configuration at the points of the pouring element 116 immediately adjacent to the sealing arrangement 111 or bottom wall 109 of the cap part 101 .
- the invention is based on such a configuration is not limited. Rather, the cross-sectional dimension of the pouring element 116 can also be significantly smaller than the width dimension of the flexible wall area 112.
- the pouring element 116 extends essentially parallel to the central axis of the opening 105. Other directions of extension of the pouring element 116 are also possible.
- the pouring element 116 automatically makes its movement from one end position to the other.
- the pouring element 116 is pivoted or inclined laterally outwards from the orientation shown in FIG. 2a by an angle which corresponds to the aforementioned angle ⁇ .
- the passage passage 117 is connected to the interior of the container, so that the contents of the container 102 can be conveniently dispensed in the manner of a watering can.
- a sealing lip (not shown) can be provided at the inner end of the passage 117 of the pouring element 116, which can engage a shoulder sealing surface of the enlarged area of the end wall 103 of the container 102 when the sealing arrangement 111 is pivoted into the closed position to additionally seal the entry end of the passage passage 117.
- an ergonomically suitably designed manual actuation area 115 can be formed or formed on the sealing arrangement 111, which can be gripped by the fingers of an operator's hand in order to pull the sealing arrangement 111 upwards or push it downwards.
- the sealing arrangement 111 is not completely connected to the sealing cone 113, but rather only along a first circumferential section through the flexible reduced-thickness wall region 112 to the bottom wall 109 of the cap part 101.
- the remaining second peripheral portion of the seal assembly 111 is defined by a straight hinge 118 in the shape of e.g. a film hinge articulated on the bottom wall 109 of the cap part 101.
- the manual actuation area 115 which is formed by the base wall of the sealing cone 113, lies through a corresponding extension of the sealing cone 113 to above the bottom wall 109 of the cap part 100, can be inclined and have corrugations 119. A force can therefore be exerted on the base wall by the fingers of one hand in order to pivot the sealing arrangement 111 around the hinge joint 118.
- FIG. 3 shows an embodiment of the invention, in which the pouring element 316 in the release position of the sealing arrangement 311 shown in FIG. 4a is oriented in the direction of the central axis of the opening 305 of the container 302, while in the closed position in the recess 310 of the cap part 301 according to FIG. 4b.
- This is achieved by an essentially horizontal molding of the pouring element 316 on the flexible wall area 312.
- the pouring element 316 is also formed on the underside of a plate-shaped wall 325, which is connected by a hinge joint 318 to the bottom wall 309 of the cap part 301 and can be matched to the outline configuration of the recess 310 such that the recess 310 in the closed position of the sealing arrangement 311 is covered upwards in order to create a smooth, closed top at the closure, which offers advantages from an aesthetic point of view and for the function as an advertising medium.
- a lug 315 can be formed on the plate-shaped wall 325, which serves as a manual actuation area in order to pivot the pouring element 316 around the hinge joint 318, as a result of which the sealing arrangement 311 is automatically moved between the closing and release positions.
- the plate-shaped wall 325 can have a width which corresponds to an edge of a square, along the other edges of which the flexible reduced-thickness wall region 312 extends.
- FIG. 5 shows a further embodiment of the invention.
- This embodiment is essentially based on the concept of the embodiment described above, in that the pouring element 416 is formed on the flexible, reduced-thickness wall area 412 in such a way that it is in the recess 410 of the cap part in the closed position of the sealing arrangement 411 401 is received, while in the release position it is oriented in the direction of the central axis of the mouth opening 405 of the container 402.
- the pouring element 416 also serves as a manual actuation area for pivoting the sealing arrangement 411 around the hinge joint 418 between the closed and released positions.
- the flexible wall area 412 extends on both sides of the hinge joint 418 in an arc-like manner as in the embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1.
- a sealing element can also be provided which can have a sealing relationship with an end face of the flange-like peripheral wall which surrounds the mouth opening.
- the pouring element can also be provided at any other suitable location on the cap part instead of on the flexible, reduced-thickness wall area, so that it is not influenced by the movement of the flexible wall area, but rather maintains its position. It also goes without saying that the mouth opening does not have to be part of the container, but can also be part of a cap that seals off an open container end.
