Definitions
- the present invention relates to a knitted fabric intended particularly but not exclusively for the manufacture of leisure clothing. It relates more particularly to a weft knitted or knitted mesh knit, with two layers or separate faces called hereinafter double-sided knit, the surface of each face is of a different material.
- the advantage of double-sided knitting is to be able to combine, in the same structure, the characteristics of each of the two faces, which are chosen according to the requirements linked to the use of the made-up article.
- the inner face must be pleasant to the touch.
- the inside face must have absorption properties with regard to sweating and the outside face must provide good thermal insulation.
- Double-sided knitwear has already been proposed, the surface of each face being of a different material.
- the outside face is wool while the inside face, facing the user, is respectively in cotton for DE-2 530 806 and in silk for DE-3 409 965.
- the first consists in knitting of the vanized jersey type in which a single needle machine is fed with two threads of different material; in this case the two threads must be well separated and presented to the needles so that one is always placed on the wrong side and the other on the right side.
- This first technique requires very precise adjustment of the feed members of the wires; the knitted fabric obtained is not thick and insufficiently stretchy.
- a thicker knit can be obtained, according to a variant of this first technique, by making a vanized double-faced knit on a normal rib machine.
- double-sided knitting is made on three scraps: the first two scraps formed of two very distinct jersey mesh layers, and the third is a very low counting bonding thread, generally a synthetic filament, which, by looping, binds the two other layers together .
- This second technique is very easy to implement but has the disadvantage of having the presence of a connecting wire which is in a third material and the sensation of two juxtaposed knits.
- the third technique is the result of the second in that the connection between the two layers is obtained by one of the two components.
- knitting is obtained from two scraps: in one there is the thread of the first material and all the needles of the tray work and in the other there has the thread of the second material and all the needles of the cylinder work; to bind the two layers either the thread of the first material is jammed onto the needles of the cylinder or the thread of the second material is jammed onto the needles of the tray.
- the formation of layers in one of the two main components makes the structure of the mesh rather unstable.
- the knit is very stretchable but it is not very elastic and during finishing it is not always possible to obtain good dimensional stability.
- the goal that the applicant has set is to offer a double-sided knit which overcomes the drawbacks noted above.
- This object is perfectly achieved by the double-sided knitting of the invention.
- This knitting in known manner, has one side whose surface is in a first material and the other side whose surface is in a second material.
- the knitting according to the invention is obtained on at least three falls, two falls by knitting of the rib type from a thread of the first material and a second thread of the second material and a fall by a jersey type knitting from a third thread having the first material, at least on the surface.
- the first material constituting one of the yarns of the English coast and the yarn of the jersey knit and corresponding to one of the faces of the knitted fabric, is cotton, in pure or mixed form, while that the second material is wool, pure or mixed.
- the third knitted yarn in jersey mesh is an elastic yarn, for example in that it comprises a gimped elastomeric yarn, that is to say a yarn having an elastomeric core and a cover. in the first material.
- a gimped elastomeric yarn that is to say a yarn having an elastomeric core and a cover. in the first material.
- one of the faces of the knitting being made of cotton this has undergone a mechanical finishing treatment, for example, has undergone at least one passage on a chardonneuse, which develops on the surface of the face thus treated a part cotton fibers.
- a mechanical finishing treatment for example, has undergone at least one passage on a chardonneuse, which develops on the surface of the face thus treated a part cotton fibers.
- the knitted fabric has a more pleasant feel and also a better absorption power.
- one of the faces of the knitted fabric being made of wool, the latter has undergone a chemical treatment of the waterproofing type on said face.
- This particular arrangement makes it possible to envisage the making of a leisure garment having all the required properties but which, moreover, has on its outside face a water-repellent effect, repellent against water.
- this knitting is obtained on three falls, by knitting on two successive falls of an English rib stitch from a first cotton thread and a second wool thread, then on the third fall of a jersey knit from a third cotton thread.
- This knitting mode is illustrated by the diagram in the figure which represents the succession of the three falls 1, 2 and 3.
- the first two falls 1 and 2 produce the two complementary elements of the English coast, the first with a cotton thread 4 and the second with a woolen thread 5.
- the third drop 3 makes the jersey using a cotton thread 6.
- the two cotton threads 4, 6 were both 100% combed cotton threads with two strands having a metric number of 30.
- the wool thread 5 was a 100% combed thread with two strands number metric 28.
- the settings of the rectilinear loom have been adjusted so as to obtain a length of absorbed yarn for the cotton yarn 6, forming the jersey, which is at most equal to that of the other two yarns. 4, 5.
- the length of absorbed yarn for the cotton yarn 6 is less than that of the wool yarn 5 which is itself less than that of the second cotton yarn 4.
- the jersey knit a cotton thread 6 which is different from the cotton thread 4 used for the reverse side of the English rib.
- the jersey knit can consist of an elastomer yarn gimped with cotton. In this case, the extensibility and elasticity of the knit are improved.
- the double-sided knitting of the invention is particularly intended for the production of leisure and leisure clothing; it will also find its application in clothing for children, infants, or the elderly.
- constituent materials of the yarns used in the knitting of the invention according to the properties desired for the article to be made, from among all natural fibers, pure or mixed , of animal or vegetable origin or all chemical, synthetic or artificial fibers, pure or mixed.
