Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a connector electric hermaphrodite with at least two poles, the connector comprising at least one piece of female contact provided with a socket at one end front of the connector, at least one contact piece male provided with a pin at said front end, and an elongated insulating box which surrounds laterally contact parts and has, at said end front, male and female forms including at at least one male protective tubular part and at at least one protective female tubular part, said tubular parts forming an integral part of the housing and laterally surrounding respectively the socket and pin, said front end of the connector being arranged to be able to be connected at the end front of an identical connector so that said pin and said male tubular part of each connector fit longitudinally respectively in said socket and said female tubular part from the other connector.
  • the publication FR-A-2 501 918 describes a connector hermaphrodite like this, for a cable to multiple conductors for signal transmission.
  • a male electrical block, provided with several parallel pins, and a female electrical block, fitted with several parallel sockets, are mounted next to each other in a case and have shapes complementary.
  • two of these connectors hermaphrodites are connected to each other, we can lock them using a swivel bracket mounted on one of them.
  • Such a connection system is not not usable in a power supply network, especially because it does not meet standards generally imposed security.
  • very low voltage power supply (generally 12 V) is carried out by cables of all types, adjusted on site and connected by screw flanges whose tightening can cause problems and whose screws are not protected.
  • the user performs the assembly or modifies in order to adapt the lighting installation to changing needs. Therefore, the wiring like this are not always done in conditions optimal security and with the guarantee of respect standards in force. If the screws are wrong tight or loosen over time, resulting in deficient contacts, voltage drops, localized heating or displacement conductors which may lead to short circuits. Furthermore, nothing prevents a reversal accidental poles during assembly or during transformation of the installation. Similar problems occur in supply systems low voltage electrical (e.g. 110 volts or 220 volts) and at higher voltages. In in addition, some connection boxes do not respect not scrupulously the standards in force.
  • the object of the present invention is to avoid the drawbacks mentioned above and improve the security of connections, thanks to a connector which can be plugged in easily and securely, ensures correct positioning of the corresponding contacts at the respective poles, and resists a force lifting (set at 50 N by certain standards) likely accidentally unplug it.
  • Use of such a connector must make it possible in particular to realize an electrical distribution network at very low voltage, low voltage or medium voltage, using insulated bipolar cables, provided with a hermaphrodite connector at each end.
  • the invention provides a connector such as defined in claim 1.
  • the male tubular part surrounds the socket and the female tubular part surrounds spindle.
  • Said elastic tongue can be provided in a wall of the male tubular part, its lug being directed outwards, and said lateral recess being an orifice formed in a wall of the part tubular female.
  • the fuse is a plug-in fuse engaged in an opening side of the case, which allows to interpose a fuse connector in a power line fitted with connectors.
  • the connector 1 which is for example of the bipolar type but which could also be three-pole, has a housing 2 substantially rectangular, of insulating material, which contains a female contact element 3 and a contact element male contact 4, these two elements being arranged in parallel in the direction of the length of the case 2.
  • This one has openings at both ends.
  • AT the front it has a male tubular part 5 surrounding and protecting a contact socket 6 formed by the front end of the female contact piece 3.
  • the housing In parallel to the male part 5, the housing has a female tubular part 7 surrounding and protecting a contact pin 8 which constitutes the front end of the male contact piece 4.
  • the two tubular parts 5 and 7 have respective cross sections different sized rectangles, combined that the male part 5 can fit together with a weak clearance in the female part 7 of a connector 1 identical to this one.
  • the pin of contact 8 of each of the two connectors 1 will fit together in socket 6 of the other connector so to make the electrical connection of each pole.
  • a locking tab 10 is formed in a side wall of the male part 5 of the housing thanks to a U-shaped slot 11 and has an external lug 12 with a bias at the front.
  • a rectangular hole 13 is formed in the opposite wall of the female part 7 of the housing, so that the lug 12 of a connector 1 opposite clings to it automatically when the two connectors are sufficiently engaged one inside the other so that an electrical contact either between their contact parts 3 and 4 at by means of pins 8 and sockets 6. To ensure unlocking when you want to disconnect the connectors, just press on lug 12 to unhook from hole 13.
  • each contact part 3 and 4 is crossed by an orifice transverse 14 around which the housing has a square opening 15 which can be closed by means a removable plug 16 made of insulating material fixing by fitting in the opening 15.
  • Both holes 14 are parallel and symmetrically arranged in connector 1. They can receive transverse metal pins 17 ensuring a mechanical and electrical connection on the connector 1, as will be described later.
  • the rear end of the housing 2 comprises, facing contact parts 3 and 4, two openings square (not shown) similar to the openings 15 and capable of being closed by plugs similar 16.
  • the two rear openings are crossed by insulated conductors 18 respectively connected to contact parts 3 and 4 in a known manner, for example example by screw tightening, crimping and / or welding.
  • Figure 5 illustrates an example where the two conductors 18 together form a cord 19 equipped with a hermaphrodite connector 1 at each end. Sure these connectors 1, the side openings are closed by means of the plugs 16, so that all conductive elements are effectively protected from the outside by insulating elements.
  • Figures 2 and 3 show a distribution connector 21 consisting of five single connectors 1 which are juxtaposed and connected mechanically and electrically by means of two metal pins 17 engaged through the transverse holes 14 of five connectors. Pins 17 are retained by friction in each hole 14, for example using elastic elements such as rings or blades steel, housed inside the parts of contact 3 and 4.
  • the entire block 21 is supplied with power by a pair of conductors 18 connected to the rear of only one of the connectors 1. All the openings 15 unused connectors 1 are closed by square plugs 16, so that the protection of conductors vis-à-vis the outside is ensured.
  • a such connector 21 distributes power in parallel to different users, in particular to using cords like the one in Figure 5, and replaces traditional connection pads of the type "domino", where the contact parts and the stripped parts conductors to be connected are poorly protected against accidental contact with an object outside.
  • figure 4 shows another distribution connector 22 which is composed of three single connectors 1 not all having the same orientation.
  • the central connector has an orientation opposite to that of the other two, which can facilitate the connection of cords distributing electricity in different directions.
  • the central connector can be plugged into a cord while the other two are plugged in with two respective lamps, directly or by through cords.
  • Figure 6 shows in front view a connector distribution 23 having for example three pairs of contact parts with three 6-pin sockets and three pins 8 arranged in the same way as in the connector 21 of Figures 2 and 3, but mounted in a common box 24 provided with three sets of parts 5 male and 7 female tubulars protecting the sockets and pins.
  • One of the pairs of pieces of contact is connected to a pair of insulated conductors 18 and the other two pairs inside the case 24.
  • the housing can be completely closed except from the free end of the tubular parts 5 and 7, so that no conductive element will be accessible from the outside when connectors are connected to the three pairs of contacts therein.
  • Such distribution connectors can be made with any number of pairs of pieces contact and be connected to connectors having another number of these pairs, for example the connectors 1, 21 or 22 described above.
  • Figures 7 and 8 show a connector double 26 fitted with a removable fuse 27 and capable to be inserted on a supply line, between two connectors as described above.
  • the connector 26 is symmetrical with respect to its plane transverse median 28; in particular each of its both ends have a female contact piece 33 to socket 6, a male contact piece 34 to pin 8, inside an insulating housing 29 provided with male 5 and female 7 parts as in the case of connector 1.
  • the two female parts 33 are connected electrically by a metal blade 30 arranged laterally inside a central cavity 31 of the case, next to the fuse 27. This is of a known type of plug-in fuse with two metal legs 32 fitting between claws elastic 35 of each contact piece 34.
  • the head 36 of the fuse remains visible on the outside of the case 29 to allow easy replacement of the fuse; in addition, it bears an inscription indicating the intensity nominal. Thanks to its ease of assembly and its flexibility such a fuse connector allows increase the operational safety of a domestic supply network, particularly in combination with distribution connectors, since we can then protect individually against the overloads of the various devices supplied or the different circuits, especially on the secondary circuits in very low voltage.
  • the present invention is not limited to the examples of realization and application mentioned above, but it extends to any modification or variant obvious to a person skilled in the art.
  • Connectors according to the invention can be incorporated into device mounts, for example to allow directly connect halogen lamps, projectors, etc.
