Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for retaining a ski boot on a gliding board such as a ski.
  • the invention relates more particularly to an improvement for a device intended to hold the front of the user's boot on a ski in a triggerable manner.
  • the boot of a skier is retained on the ski in a triggerable manner by its front end by means of a front binding commonly called “stop”, and by its rear end, in particular its heel, by means of a rear binding commonly called “ heel. "
  • the release of the ski boot endangering the leg or the joints of the skier is effected by release either from the front, or from the heel of the boot, or from both.
  • the front stop comprises, for example, a jaw pivoting at least laterally
  • the heel piece generally comprises a jaw mounted pivotally to pivot up about a transverse axis, the jaw of the stop and that of the each heel being acted upon by a trigger spring whose compression is adjustable to provide the skier with an effort value suitable for the release of his shoe.
  • the present invention therefore intends to solve the drawbacks of previous bindings by proposing a new very compact binding comprising a minimum of parts, intended to retain the front end of the shoe, according to which the area forward beyond the jaw is released.
  • the binding of the invention more particularly suitable for releasably retaining the front end of the skier's boot is of the type which includes a jaw movable in pivoting on a base around a vertical axis, against the action of elastic return means, and is characterized in that the elastic return means consist of two actuating arms biased by an elastic system, each of the independent actuating arms of the jaw being pivoted about a pivot axis while that the jaw cooperates with the actuating arms thanks to a drive member which is integral with it, said elastic return means being, moreover, arranged under the front end of the shoe behind the transverse plane passing through the pivot axis of the jaw.
  • the elastic system can of course be of any type, such as for example of the type operating in compression or in tension, other, such as for example torsion.
  • the two actuating arms are stressed by the system elastic against at least one fixed abutment stop, while the drive member is constituted by a cylindrical projection extending downward and the axis of which is advantageously disposed rearward relative to the pivot axis of jaw.
  • each of the two arms is a so-called lever of the third kind, according to which the point of application of the force is disposed between the fulcrum, that is to say the pivot point of the arm, and the point of resistance, that is to say the point of application of the elastic system.
  • the drive member is connected to the jaw by means of a front plate extending substantially horizontally and on which is intended to bear the underside of the front of the sole of the shoe to constitute downward support means for the latter.
  • each of the two actuating ramps being produced by the front edge of the first corresponding portion of the corresponding actuating arm, each of the ramps further comprising a first portion of ramp or retaining ramp, extended by a second portion of ramp or tripping ramp, the passage of the actuating member of the first portion of ramp to the second ramp portion thus ensuring the value of the release force releasing the shoe.
  • each of the arms actuation, the left arm and the right arm is articulated around a pivot axis respectively to extend under the zone occupied by the end of the shoe by a first portion extending in the direction of the plane of symmetry extended by a second portion extending side by side towards the rear, while their respective ends are urged by the elastic system against the fixed stop.
  • the base is fixed to the ski, while in another embodiment the retaining device is arranged at the front of a pivoting plate articulated at its front end around a transverse pivot axis.
  • the base is articulated around the transverse pivot axis to be extended rearward to form the pivoting plate which comprises at the front the retaining jaw and at the rear of the means retainers for retaining the rear of the shoe.
  • FIGS 1, 2, 3 and 4 illustrate an embodiment of the binding of the invention.
  • Figure 1 is a side view.
  • Figure 2 is a top view.
  • FIG. 3 is an end view along F from back to front of FIG. 4.
  • Figures 5, 6 and 7 are perspective views illustrating different variants of possible elastic systems.
  • Figures 8 and 9 are views illustrating one of the applications of the binding according to the invention.
  • Figure 10 is an illustration of another application of the binding of the invention.
  • Figure 11 is a view similar to Figures 5, 6, and 7, showing another alternative embodiment.
  • the front binding according to the invention bearing the general reference (1) of longitudinal plane of general symmetry (P) is fixed on the upper surface (2) of the ski (3) and comprises a retaining member (4) of the boot, forming a jaw fitting the front (5) of the shoe (50), said jaw being pivotally disposed on a base (6) about a vertical axis (7) extending upward in the plane of symmetry (P ).
  • the jaw (4) is biased and held in a centered retaining position by means of elastic return means (8) comprising a drive member (9), two actuating arms (10a, 10b), an elastic system (11 ) and a fixed support stop (12).
  • a drive member (9) constituted by a cylindrical projection extending downward and the axis (13) of which is advantageously disposed behind the axis (7 ) pivoting of the jaw (4).
  • cylindrical projection constituting the drive member is retained in the centered position by two actuating ramps (14a, 14b) produced on two actuating arms (10a, 10b).
  • the drive member (9) is connected to the jaw (4) by means of a front plate (90) extending substantially horizontally and on which is intended to rest the underside of the before the sole of the shoe to form the downward support means for said shoe.
  • this front plate (90) comprises at its front end a vertical projection (91) extending upward and intended to cooperate by cooperation of shapes with the front face (40) of the jaw (4) so as to that the pivoting of said jaw causes the pivoting drive of said front plate (90).
  • the jaw comprises height adjustment means (41) and that it is movable in vertical translation relative to the vertical projection (91) which guides it.
  • the return means (8) comprise two pivoting actuating arms (10a, 10b) biased in the centered position against the fixed abutment stop (12) thanks to an elastic system (11).
  • Each of the actuating arms that is to say the left arm (10a) and the right arm (10b), is therefore articulated around a pivot axis respectively (15a, 15b) to extend under the zone occupied by the end of the boot by a first portion (16a, 16b) extending in the direction of the plane of symmetry (P) extended by a second portion (17a, 17b) extending side by side towards the rear , while their the respective ends are urged by the elastic system against the fixed stop (12).
  • the drive member (9) is arranged in the plane of symmetry (P) as is the fixed stop (12), while the two actuating arms (10a, 10b) are advantageously symmetrical with respect to audit plan of general symmetry (P).
  • the elastic return means (8) are arranged under the front end (5) of the user's shoe.
  • the drive member (9), the two actuating arms (10a, 10b), the elastic system (11) and the fixed support stop (12) are arranged behind (AR) the transverse plane. (T) passing through the vertical axis (7) of pivoting of the jaw (4).
  • each of the ramps (14a, 14b) comprises a first portion of ramp (140a, 140b) or retaining ramp extended by a second portion of ramp (141a, 141b) or triggering ramp.
  • the passage of the actuating member (9) from the first ramp portion (140a, 140b) to the second ramp portion (141a, 141b) ensures the value of the release force releasing the shoe.
  • the configuration of the first ramp portion (140a, 140b) creates the value of the effort of the elastic return, as well as the variation of this effort, as a function of the movement of the shoe, that is to say that the shape of the trigger curve is defined by the shape and dimension of the ramp, which allows by modification of the ramp to modify the trigger curve.
  • the elastic return system (11) in the centered position of the actuating arms (10a, 10b) can be of any type such as, for example, that illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 5. According to this embodiment, it is constituted by an elastic ring enclosing the first two portions (16a, 16b) of the two actuating arms (10a, 10b).
  • the jaw (4) will thus pivot around its pivot axis (7) which, thanks to its drive member (9), will drive the corresponding arm (10b) in pivoting about its pivot axis (15b) as shown more particularly in Figure 4, and this, by extension and elastic deformation of the elastic ring (11) which tends to bring the corresponding arm resting on the stop (12).
  • Said ring possibly being for example of material of the elastomer type or the like
  • the front binding (1) of the invention can, of course, be used on any type of ski such as, for example, an alpine ski intended for hiking, as illustrated in FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Figures 8 and 9.
  • the front fixing (1) of the invention is arranged at the front of a pivoting plate (25).
  • the base (6) articulated around a transverse pivot axis (26) is extended rearward to constitute the pivoting plate (25) and is articulated at its front end around the transverse pivot axis ( 26).
  • Said axis is retained by a mounting bracket (27) comprising two side walls (28a, 28b) retaining the transverse pivot axis (26), while they are connected by a base plate (29) fixed to the ski (3) by a set of screws (30).
  • the rear end of the pivoting plate (25) comprises retaining means (31) intended to retain the rear of the shoe, while a movable rear retaining system (32) makes it possible to block the rear of the plate (25) on the ski, as illustrated in FIG. 8 or of releasing it as shown in FIG. 9, thus allowing the pivoting up of the plate around its transverse pivot axis ( 26).
  • the front binding (1) of the invention can be used in the context of the practice of classic alpine skiing as illustrated in FIG. 10.
  • the base (6) is fixed to the ski by a set of screws (30).
  • the binding can be advantageously used to equip short skis or the like such as scooters, for example having a length of less than one meter.
  • the elastic return means (8) are arranged under the front end (5) of the user's shoe. This has an important advantage which consists in freeing up the zone (Z) disposed in front of the jaw (4), which in particular allows the plate (25) to pivot in the embodiment of FIGS. 8 and 9.
  • the retaining member for the shoe constituted by a monobloc jaw (4) according to the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 4, could consist of two half-jaws, each of the half-jaws being articulated around an axis of pivoting and including its own drive member.
  • the system elastic consists of a flat stirrup made of deformable material whose ends cooperate with the first portions (16a, 16b) of each of the actuating arms (10a, 10b).
  • the stressing force can be adjusted by moving the point of action of the elastic system (11) forwards or towards the rear, to move more or less away from the pivot center of the arms.
  • a succession of notches (110) on the outer edge of each of the actuating arms is provided a succession of notches (110).
  • the elastic system (11) can be ensured and is, for example, constituted like this to illustrate in FIG. 7 at least one spring and in the exemplary embodiment constituted by a case (18) comprising two springs (19a, 19b) : a first compression spring (19a) supported by one of its ends on an adjustment device (20) and by the other of its ends on the first actuating arm (10a), and a second compression spring ( 19b) supported by one of its ends on the bottom of the case (21) and by the other of its ends on the second actuating arm (10b).
  • the two springs are coaxial and that their respective axes are transverse to be perpendicular to the general plane of symmetry (P) and their respective axes are advantageously in the general plane (H) of the two actuating arms which are advantageously produced by a flat profile of rectangular section.
  • the two actuating arms (10a, 10b) are symmetrical with respect to the plane (P) of general symmetry, but it could be otherwise.
  • the pivot axes (15a, 15b) may not be arranged symmetrically with respect to the plane P so as not to have the same force for releasing the boot to the right and to the left.
  • actuating arms (10a, 10b) are not integral with the jaw (4), but are kinematically linked to it.
  • each of the actuating arms (10a, 10b) is a so-called lever of the third kind, according to which the point of application of the force (A) is arranged between the fulcrum, that is to say the pivot point (B), and the resistance point (C), that is to say the point of application of the elastic system (11), as shown more particularly in Figure 2.
  • FIG. 11 is an illustration of a variant in which each of the actuating arms has its own stop.
  • the left arm (10a) is supported on a stop (12a), while the right arm (10b) is supported on another stop (12b), the device therefore comprising two stops (12a, 12b).
  • the elastic system (11) is constituted by a tension spring, but could also be constituted by an elastic ring as according to the variant illustrated in FIG. 5.
