the vice clamp is a well known tool that is part of the family adjustable pliers.
a vise clamp a copy of which is shown in FIG. includes a housing 2 and two jaws 6-8.
the upper jaw is fixed relative to the housing while the lower jaw is adjustable, which allows to adjust the opening of the jaws to hold objects of various shapes.
a mechanism including a worm and a control wheel to lock and unlock the jaws on the object to hold or tighten.
the housing 2 comprises two wings 3 each having a notched groove 4.
the lower jaw has an axis 5 that entered the press into a hole made in it. Axis protrudes from surfaces side of the jaw and engages in each of the grooves of the housing.

the vise clamp comprises a casing 2 which has two wings 3.

a lower jaw 8 is articulated on the housing.
the clip further comprises a handle 9 articulated on the lower jaw 8 and a locking mechanism of both jaws one with respect to the other. This mechanism we can see a wheel 10 order is typical and will not be described in more detail.
the jaw lower has a bore 12 in which is inserted an axis 13. At one of its ends, the hinge axis presents a head and, at its second end, the axis has a reduced diameter realizing a shoulder 15.
the assembly of the lower jaw on the crankcase extremely simple way.
the lower jaw 8 is engaged between the two wings 3 of the casing 2 taking care to make the drilling 12 coincide of the jaw 8 with each notched groove 4.
the axis is then engaged in the bore 12 until the head 14 comes to rest on the outer face of the wing.
a washer 17 is then engaged on the other end of the axis and bears against the shoulder 15. This end of the axis is then deformed to form a lip 18 which comes to rest on a wrinkle 19 performed in the washer 17.
the ergonomics of use of the vice clamp according to the invention is much superior to that of the vise clamps of the prior art since the manipulation of the lower jaw is done by grasping the head and the puck that have flat, non-offensive surfaces.
the washer can be replaced by a nut which would screw on a threaded end of the hinge pin. So the jaws could take different shapes depending the desired use of the vice clamp.
