- the calming space and cyclone are accommodated in the chain case according to the invention, the wall of the crankcase adjacent to the chain case having an inlet opening for oil-laden blow-by gas from the crankcase into the calming space and return openings for separated oil, the available space of the chain case is used, to integrate the venting device. Elaborate blow-by guides through the engine to the valve cover are eliminated.

- Calmed gas passes tangentially from the upper outlet of the calming space 1 into a cyclone 6, from the lower end of which the oil separated by centrifugal force is returned to the crankcase, expediently into an oil return channel which is in any case located in the crankcase, while through a central upper outlet port 7 the from Oil-free gas is discharged.

- the siphon 5 can expediently be provided here. Adjacent to the inlet opening 3, the oil pre-separator 4, for example a steel wire mesh, is inserted between brackets 13, above which the settling chamber 1 is located.
- the latter is connected via a connecting piece 14 to the cyclone 6, the lower end of which carries a return pipe 15 which projects into a return opening 16 for separated oil in the end wall 8 and whose central upper outlet pipe 7 leads gas out of the chain case 9 after the oil separation on the end wall side
- the housing 11 and the cyclone 6 can be made as separate components from sheet metal or plastic and can be accommodated in the space of the chain case 9. However, it is preferred that the housing 11 and the cyclone 6 partially in the chain case 9 can be integrated, as shown in Fig. 3, 4. Thereafter, the chain case 9 forms half of the calming space 1 and the cyclone space by appropriately shaping its end wall.
- the second half of the calming space 1 and the cyclone space is formed by a one-piece housing inner shell 17, which can consist of an inexpensive material such as sheet metal or plastic, which is attached to the inside of the chain case 9 by means of flanges 18.
- the central outlet port 7 of the cyclone 6 is clamped between the housing inner shell 17 and the chain case 9, cf. Fig. 3.
- An opening 19 is provided in the chain case 9 on the bulkhead side adjacent to the end of the outlet connector 7, which receives an outwardly directed connector 20.
- the return pipe 15 is inserted into a corresponding opening in the housing inner shell 17 at the lower end of the cyclone 6.
