Definitions
- Burner with diffuser resistant to high operating temperatures Burner with diffuser resistant to high operating temperatures .
- the present invention relates to a burner with a diffuser resistant to high operating temperatures, in particular to a premixed burner .
- Burners of this type are known from patent applications MO2003A000180 and MO2004A000031, and MO2004A000277, in the name of the same applicant.
- burners are disclosed in which the burner diffuser is divided into a plurality of diffuser elements that are adjacent to one another, that are free to expand in at least a direction.
- the burners disclosed in the aforementioned patent applications satisfactorily solve the problem of reducing the mechanical stress generated by the temperature variations to which the diffuser is subject during operation of the burner and by the temperature difference between the various diffuser zones.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a gas burner, in particular a gas burner with a flat diffuser, that enables power per plan surface unit of the burner to be obtained that is significantly greater than that of burners known from the state of the art, with the same materials used to construct the burner diffuser.
- a burner supplied with a gas and air fuel mixture comprising a diffuser on which openings are made for the passage and subsequent combustion of said mixture, said diffuser being divided into a plurality of diffuser elements that are adjacent to one another, characterised in that each diffuser element has a pair of converging slopes that are convergent on one another, said openings being made in each of the slopes of said pair of slopes .
- each diffuser element has greater rigidity, for the same plan dimensions, than diffuser elements of the state of the art, inasmuch as the presence of the slopes noticeably increases the moment of inertia of the section of the diffuser element, which increases the resistance of the diffuser element to the mechanical stress induced by heat stress.

- a burner 1 according to the invention comprising a frame 2 to which a plurality of diffuser elements 3 is fixed.
- the diffuser elements 3 have a substantially open box shape, with two substantially rectangular side faces 4, two front faces 5, having a rectangular shape, the upper side of which is replaced by two rectilinear segments 6 and 7 converging downwards in a V shape.
- the diffuser element 3 is completed by an upper face consisting of a pair of slopes 8, 9 converging downwards, i.e. towards the inside of the diffuser element 3, and having substantially the same tilt as said rectilinear segments 6 and 7.
- the angle ⁇ between the slopes 8 and 9 is comprised between approximately 30 and approximately 160°, is preferably comprised between approximately 65° and approximately 75°.
- the side faces 4 of the diffuser element 3 are provided, below, with a plurality of protrusions 11, 11a, for example of tab shape, the protrusions 11, lla of one of the side faces 4 are staggered with respect to the protrusions 11, lla of the other side face, so that, placing two diffuser ⁇
- the protrusions 11, 11a' of one of the two diffuser elements 3 are inserted between the protrusions 11, 11a of the other diffuser element 3, so as to make a sort of joint between the two diffuser elements 3.
- the front faces 5 of the diffuser element 3 are provided with further protrusions 12 that are used to improve the stability of the coupling with the frame 2.
- Figure 6 there is illustrated the coupling between two adjacent diffuser elements 3. Inside the diffuser element 3 there is arranged a distributing element 13.
- the distributing element 13 comprises a pair of sides 14 that converge together at a first end thereof, connected, at said end by a connecting portion 15 which is substantially rectilinear, and two further ends 16, noticeably parallel to one another, connected to a second end of the sides 14, opposite said first end.
- the distributing element 13 is insertible inside the diffuser element 3, so that the connecting portion 15 rests against the common head of the slopes 8 and 9 and the sides 14 are substantially parallel to the slopes 8 and 9.
- the transverse dimensions of the distributing element 13 is such as to enable interfering coupling between the two further ends 16 and the internal surface of the side faces 4 of the diffuser element 3.
- the sides 14 of the distributing element 13 are provided with openings for the passage of the mixture of air and fuel introduced into the burner 1. Between the sides 14 of the distributing element 13 and the internal surface of the slopes 8, 9 of the diffuser element 3 two spaces 17, 18 are defined in which the mixture, which has traversed the openings made in said sides 14, is distributed in a substantially uniform manner so as to obtain a substantially uniform distribution of the mixture at the outlet of the slits 10, and therefore a substantially even distribution of the flames generated by the combustion of said mixture .
- FIG. 7 there is illustrated a version of a diffuser element 3a according to the invention.
- the diffuser element 3a also has a substantially open box shape with two substantially rectangular side faces 4, two front faces (not visible in the figures) , being rectangular in shape, the upper side of which is replaced by two rectilinear segments converging upwards in a V shape.
- the diffuser element 3a is completed by an upper face consisting of a pair of slopes 8a, 9a converging upwards, i.e. towards the outside of the diffuser element 3a, and having substantially the same tilt as said rectilinear segments. On each of the slopes 8a and 9a openings 10 are made for the exit and subsequent combustion of the mixture of fuel and air introduced into the burner 1.
- the angle ⁇ ' between the slopes 8a and 9a is comprised between approximately 200° and approximately 330°, is preferably comprised between approximately 285° and approximately 295°.
- the side faces 4a and the front faces of the distributing element 3a are provided with appendages that are completely similar to and have the same functions as the appendages 11, 11a, 12, 12a of the distributing element 3.
- a distributing element 13a which is insertible inside the diffuser element 3a.
- the distributing element 13a comprises a pair of sides 14a that converge together at a first end thereof, connected, at said end, by a curved connecting portion 15a, and two further ends 16a, that are noticeably parallel and are connected to a second end of the sides 14a, opposite said first end.
- the distributing element 13a is insertible inside the diffuser element 3a, so that the. sides 14a are substantially parallel to the slopes 8a and 9a.
- the transverse dimensions of the distributing element 13a are such as to enable interfering coupling between the two further ends 16a and the internal surface of the side faces 4a of the diffuser element 3a.
- the sides 14a of the distributing element 3a are provided with openings for the passage of the mixture of air and fuel introduced into the burner 1.
- a space 17a in which the mixture, which has traversed the openings made in said sides 14a, is distributed in a substantially uniform manner, so as to enable a substantially uniform distribution of the mixture to be obtained outside the slits 10 and therefore a substantially uniform distribution of the flames generated by the combustion of said mixture to be obtained.
- the presence of the slopes 8, 9 and 8a, 9a increases the inertia moment of the cross section of the diffuser element 3, 3a making the element stiffer than diffuser elements known from the state of the art, having a substantially rectangular cross section.
- This enables diffuser elements 3, 3a with a greater length to be made, so as to be able to also arrange them parallel to the larger side of the frame 2, which reduces the number of diffuser elements that are necessary, with the same frame 2 dimensions, with a significant saving in production and assembly costs.
