Definitions
- the invention relates to a transport device for the processing of book blocks according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Bookbinders are increasingly being confronted with having to produce book blocks for hardcover production in small series, often with an edition of a book.
- the contents of such books are produced by printing machines which have short changeover times.
- Most often, short runs are made with digital presses that allow you to dynamically change the print content.
- This allows a book to be printed in sequence and further processed into a book block. This happens mostly in-line, i. the required process steps from letterpress printing, folding and collation of the printed sheets as well as adhesive binding run until the ready-bound book is present directly behind one another and in a plant, which is also referred to as Buchstrasse.
- the book block is provided with attachment sheets, which are glued to both sides of the book block with a thin glue trace.
- these attachment sheets serve as a hinge for the envelope.
- they are preferably fed only after milling. Overlapping the spine of the book then a KaylzelstMail is attached, which is glued, for example, with hot glue or PUR on the back of the book block. The way this way Fastened strips ensure that the book block is held together.
- the book block is cut to the intended format and finally stuck a firm envelope to the two header sheet.
- a compact adhesive binder which has a transport device with a closed orbit and arranged in the region of the orbit processing stations.
- the transport device is designed as a turntable with peripheral pliers receptacles, in each of which a book block receiving pair of jaws is arranged. Because the jaws hold the book block during the entire processing can be in such a perfect binder, the attachment sheet at best together with the book block, ie before the back processing, resulting in the already mentioned above quality problems.
- EP 1344655 A2 is an especially suitable for short runs perfect binder with a arranged after the milling feeder for the attachment sheet known. It is a linear, relatively long-building system with several in a row successively arranged processing stations and with a step-by-step forward book block transport, which is realized by a reciprocating transport device.
- the supported on his back book block is detected in its lower part on both sides by a transport device belonging to the clamping rail, which transports the book block through the milling device into the feed unit for the attachment sheet.
- the book block is transferred to an attacking in its central region retaining clip.
- the clamping rails are released and fed both the attachment sheet and the KlalzelstMake.
- the clamping rails compress the book block near his back and thus compress it in its lower area.
- the upper block of the book block is caught by the retaining clip while the clamping bars are still engaged. Then open the clamping rails to clear the way for the supply of the attachment sheet.
- This gripping the clamping devices brings a disturbance in the book block, which can lead to inaccuracies and shifts. If it is a voluminous book block, this isteurgewalkt, because the air contained in the book block must first escape to the outside. In this case, the previously generated milling pattern can be damaged, which leads to problems in the sequence of glue application and thus in the quality of the final product.
- the attachment sheets can be supplied to the book block only during a standstill phase.
- the adhesive binder for processing book blocks has become known.
- the adhesive binder is provided with a closed loop conveyor for the book blocks and a number of successive processing stations associated with the conveyor.
- the transport device has a number of a respective book block to the processing stations promoting clamping device.
- One of the processing stations is designed as technologically-processing device and a Beleimungsstation.
- At least one further processing station following the back-processing device is designed as an application station for attachment sheet.
- Object of the present invention is to provide a closed orbit having transport device with a suitable for short runs, compact perfect binder can be supplied with the attachment sheet after the back processing to the book block and improved with the quality of the bound booklets and books with reduced technical complexity and higher performance can be achieved.
- a transport device in that at least one further processing station of the perfect binder following the back-processing device is designed as a landing station for attachment sheet.
- the clamping devices are attached to or in the transport device and according to the invention each have an outer pliers and an inner pliers arranged in the outer pliers for the book blocks. Due to this arrangement of pliers in a pair of pliers, the book block can be held throughout its residence time in the perfect binder by the inner pliers, while the outer pliers for feeding the attachment sheet is opened, thus creating the necessary space for the attachment sheet. Therefore, neither backward strokes nor encompassing of the clamping devices are required and the associated disadvantages of the prior art are eliminated. In addition, the arrangement of two such pliers allows book blocks to be picked up regardless of their block thickness and other format dimensions, i. each of the consecutive clamps can receive and transport a book block of different dimensions.
- the outer pliers have a fixed and a movable pliers half and the inner pliers two movable pliers halves.
- the required for the supply of the attachment sheet radial clearance on both sides of the book block holding inner pliers can be created in a particularly simple manner.
- the pliers allow quick opening and closing while maintaining secure and defined support for the book blocks, increasing the performance of the perfect binder and improving the quality of the perfect binding.
- the outer pliers have two first holding elements and the inner pliers two second holding elements, wherein the holding elements are each arranged pivotably about a common axis of rotation. Even with this alternative embodiment of the clamping device, the two pliers can be relatively easily and independently opened and closed again as needed.
- each one of these penetrating, pocket-like recess is arranged in the outer pliers.
- the recesses allow a particularly simple feeding of the attachment sheet through the holding elements the outer pliers, wherein the attachment sheet in the clamping devices initially stored in the amount of bag base and later supplied to the respective book block and pressed against this. Due to the short path of the attachment sheet bottom of the bag results in a relatively low drop height, thereby avoiding a "jumping" of the attachment sheet and their precise bonding with the book block can be guaranteed.
- the clamping devices each have a first pair of pliers attached to or in the transport device and a second pliers for the book blocks at the platen attachment station, the second pliers being disposed above the first pliers and spaced therefrom.
- Both the first and the second pliers each have a first and a second pliers half, wherein at least one pliers half is designed to be movable relative to the respective other pliers half. Due to the separate design and arrangement of the second pliers, the first pliers can be made easier.
- the book blocks are separated from the clamping devices, i. from the first pliers, first grabbed in a lower area and conveyed to the processing stations.
- a book block conveyed to the further processing station is grasped in an upper area by the second clamp, after which the corresponding clamping device is opened.
- the insertion of the at least one header sheet in the open clamping device takes place.
- the clamping device is closed again and then solved the second pliers, so that provided in this way with the attachment sheet book block is free again and can be promoted to the other processing stations.
- the attachment of the attachment sheet is carried out in two steps, ie in a first step, the attachment sheet above the book block and laterally spaced from this introduced into the respective clamping device and lowered only in a second step to the height of the book block and pressed against this , As a result, in the second step, the drop height of the attachment sheet reduced and thus a perfect fit bonding with the book block be guaranteed.
- the attachment of the attachment sheet can also be done in a single step.
- the transport device is driven continuously and the attachment sheets are each fed to a forward moving clamping device in the transport direction. In this way, the performance of the perfect binder can be maximized because there are no downtimes.
- the transport device is driven in steps and the attachment sheets are each fed to a stationary clamping device. Because the book blocks are not moved, the landing station for the attachment sheet can be made easier.
- the processing stations and in particular the landing station for attachment sheet each have a self-propelled.
- the processing stations can be operated independently of each other and optimized for time-critical processes.
- the orbit of the transport device is circular, oval, polygonal or formed as a shapeless curve, whereby the transport device is easily adaptable to any conceivable application.

- perfect binder 7 all format settings for the clamping devices 1 to 6 and the processing stations 10 can be done dynamically and intermittently, so that at the same book blocks with different formats and thicknesses can be edited. A thick, large book can therefore be followed by a thin, small book, or vice versa.
- the perfect binder 7 can thus also be used for the production of individual books (edition 1), i. in each clamping device 1 to 6 is another book block 8. Since the perfect binder 7 all required processing stations 10 are arranged, a book block 8 for producing a hardcover book intermittently followed by a book block 8 for producing a softcover book.
- the perfect binder 7 has an in Fig. 1 indicated controller 87, which can process the book data from various sources and connected in a manner not shown with measuring and control elements of both the transport device 9 and the processing stations 10.
- book data is, for example, the book ID, order ID, raw book height, raw book width, and book thickness.
- envelope height, the envelope width, the center offset of the envelope (position reference back to cover edge) and the envelope thickness are used. This data can be manually entered as an order in the controller 87 or transmitted from a corresponding detection device to the controller 87. If the perfect binder 7 is arranged in conjunction with a control-compatible system, it receives the necessary book data, for example, from a higher-level control or from the control of a machine in the composite.
- book data can also be transmitted with the book block 8 or the envelope 38, detected with a arranged in the perfect binder 7 reader and passed to the controller 87.
- book information can also be transmitted via a database entry, for example from a higher-level control, for example when a corresponding identification is read on the book block 8 or on the envelope 38.
- the perfect binder 7 also allows several gluing units or glue injection devices at different positions, so that the type of gluing can be changed in cycles. This makes it possible to produce a hardcover book and a softcover book or vice versa in quick succession.
- the perfect binder 7 can also be configured as a pure softcover machine or as a pure hardcover machine.
