Definitions
- the present invention relates to a socket tile for a building roof, as well as to a building roof comprising such socket tiles.
- the tiles are often made of terracotta, but also of concrete or synthetic materials such as resin.
- Battens are installed fixed to the frame transversely to the slope of the roof, spaced regularly, each receiving a row of tiles.
- Tiles meet different aesthetic criteria depending on the region. Through their shapes, colors, and sizes, tiles contribute to creating a style and identity for a region's homes.
- CMV controlled mechanical ventilation
- socket tile For air outlets it is known to use a specific tile, called a socket tile, which has a general shape and identical dimensions to fit like other standard tiles in a section of the roof.
- the socket tile has in its center a substantially vertical circular outline, created by an upward deformation of the surface, which ends in a horizontal crown with a circular passage in the center.
- the horizontal crown receives a hat called a lantern, comprising a generally cylindrical shape arranged vertically, including a closed top to prevent water from entering, and a vertical contour presenting a series of openings allowing the extracted air to exit.
- a hat called a lantern comprising a generally cylindrical shape arranged vertically, including a closed top to prevent water from entering, and a vertical contour presenting a series of openings allowing the extracted air to exit.
- socket tile A problem that arises with this type of socket tile is that it is produced in very small quantities compared to other standard roof tiles, while for aesthetic reasons it is necessary to be able to offer it with all the variations of appearance and colors presented on these standard tiles.
- a known type of socket tile presented in particular by the document EP-A1-2759652 , has a generally flat shape similar to other standard tiles, featuring a central opening with a small rim of constant height around its edge. A plastic insert added to the opening is fixed by gluing or clipping on it.
- the small rim around the edge of the opening of this tile is simpler to manufacture than a circular shape extending over the height, but still requires specific tooling, and maintaining these particular tiles in stock according to all the variations, which entails costs.
- socket tile presented in particular by the document DE-U1-29815502 , comprises a tile having a completely standard shape, in which an opening has been made for the passage of a vertical sheath, designed to receive inside an extraction air passage duct.
- the junction of the vertical sheath and the tile receives a bead of adhesive around the entire perimeter of this sheath, in order to ensure mechanical support and sealing.
- this type of adhesive fixing placed on top of the socket tile presents aging problems that can reduce the lifespan of this tile.
- the ultraviolet rays of the sun degrade the qualities of the adhesive over time, this can result in rainwater leaking onto this tile and seeping through the degraded adhesive, or in the sheath coming loose.
- the present invention aims in particular to avoid these drawbacks of the prior art.
- This socket tile is that a cut can be made in the middle of a standard tile to obtain the pierced tile, which allows the use of standard tiles kept in stock in all their variants.
- a continuous bead of glue is placed in the channel inside the edge, then the bulb is pressed onto the drilled tile, centering it thanks to the contour of the base fitting into the hole.
- the bead of glue which is fixed on top of the tile around the cutout, constitutes an effective means of fixing, ensuring a seal over the complete contour, which is protected in particular from mechanical aggression and ultraviolet radiation by the edge covering it entirely.
- the continuous edge has in a cross section a part facing radially outwards, then a descending part directed towards the top of the pierced tile.
- the channel below the continuous rim may have a generally rectangular cross-section with one side which may be slanted.
- the bulb comprises above the continuous rim a conical shape which narrows, then a horizontal crown having a central hole.
- the bulb is formed from a single piece by molding.
- the bulb can be formed by casting in a mold having an opening along a vertical axis.
- the drilling cut-out has an edge arranged vertically when the drilled tile is inclined according to the slope of the roof.
- a method of manufacturing a socket tile comprising any of the preceding features, including a step of cutting the central bore on a standard tile to form the drilled tile.
- the invention further relates to a roofing of a building comprising socket tiles according to the invention.
- FIG. 1 has a roof comprising standard tiles 2 held on battens 4 of the frame to form rows of tiles, surrounding a socket tile 6 having in the center an elevation of the surface 8 of slightly conical shape narrowing upwards, forming a circular outline around a vertical axis A.
- the surface elevation 8 ends with a horizontal crown 10, having a central hole receiving the air flow from a ventilation tube 18 which, once installed, arrives a little below this crown.
- a molded lantern 12 has a generally cylindrical shape, including at the base a flare provided to fit over the crown 10 of the socket tile 6. Above the flare, a straight cylindrical surface has a series of vertical slots 16, protected by a domed upper closure 14 projecting around this cylindrical surface to prevent rainwater from entering the slots.
- the socket tile 6 requires specific molds to produce it, including the circular contour of the surface elevation 8. In particular, it is necessary to produce molds of these socket tiles 6 in all possible appearance variants included in the standard tiles 2, and to maintain stocks to meet customer demands. These particularities represent a significant cost.
- FIG. 2 has a socket tile 20 comprising a pierced tile 22 having a shape and appearance identical to those of the standard tiles 2, receiving on a central hole a bulb 24 having in the upper part the horizontal crown 10 receiving below its central hole the ventilation tube 18.
- the contour of the base of the bulb 24 comprises a continuous rim 26 fitted on top of the pierced tile 22, containing inside a continuous bead of glue 28, which is glued on top of this pierced tile so as to ensure a seal and mechanical hold on this complete contour.
- FIG. 3 shows the perforated tile 22 formed with the same mold as a standard tile 2, comprising an upper surface visible after the installation of the roofing, comprising, looking at the lower edge 40, on the left a flat part 30, and on the right a curved part 32 of reduced width compared to this flat part.
- the left edge of the pierced tile 22 has a longitudinal groove 34 ending in a rim, receiving the right edge of the adjacent tile in order to form a rainwater drainage channel.
- the upper edge of the pierced tile 22 comprises two parallel upper ribs 36, 38 delimiting between them a transverse groove which opens on the side into the longitudinal groove 34.
- the underside of the lower edge 40 has grooves 42 fitting over the upper ribs 36, 38 of the adjacent tile of the lower row.
- the pierced tile 22 has a circular central hole 44 formed largely on the flat part 30, and extending onto the curved part 32.
- the central hole 44 can be made by any cutting means suitable for the material of a standard tile 2, including in particular machining with a cutting tool, stamping with a press tool, or other cutting processes such as laser or water jet cutting.
- the cutting of the central hole 44 is carried out to form an edge 46 of this cutout arranged vertically when the pierced tile 22 is inclined according to the slope of the roof, which is generally between 20 and 45°.
- the central hole 44 may be circular, or have any other shape, in particular an oval shape, following the contour of the bulb 24 to be fitted inside.
- the Figures 4 and 5 present the bulb 24 which is made by molding a plastic material.
- the bulb 24 has at its base a contour 50 fitting into the hole 44 of the pierced tile 22, with a minimum clearance so as to position this bulb.
- the base of the contour 50 forms a vertical cylinder, fitting into the edge 46 of the central bore 44 which is also cut along a vertical when the pierced tile 22 is inclined in its mounting position.
- the continuous rim 26 surrounding the base of the contour 50 comprises a first part facing radially outwards 52, arranged generally in a plane parallel to the surface of the pierced tile 22, then a second descending part 54 coming close to this tile, which is perpendicular to the first part.
- the second descending part 54 can join the surface of the tile 22 in a direction parallel to the axis of the contour 50.
- a continuous channel is obtained having a substantially rectangular section with one side which can be at an angle depending on the position on the contour, arranged parallel to the surface of the pierced tile 22.
- the continuous edge 26 follows the undulations of the surface of the pierced tile 22, in particular the curved part 32, so as to remain at a constant distance from this surface.
- the channel under the edge 26 has a generally constant section over its entire development.
- the bulb 24 allows in particular molding with a mold having an opening movement in the vertical direction, which comprises only two elements thanks to the absence of undercutting of this bulb for demolding in this direction.
- the mold is simple to manufacture, and the production costs of the bulb 24 are reduced.
- the bulb 24 When manufacturing the socket tile 20, the bulb 24 is turned over and a continuous bead of glue 28 is deposited in the channel under the rim 26. Then the bulb 24 is placed on the pierced tile 22, easily centering it in the bore 44, and it is pressed so as to continuously stick the bead of glue 28 to this tile. During this pressing operation, the glue 28 remains in position thanks to the rim 26 surrounding it.
- the finished socket tile 20 is thus obtained in a simple, efficient and rapid manner.
- the edge 26 covering the entire bead of glue 28 protects this glue against mechanical attacks, and in particular against exposure to ultraviolet rays.
- the bulb 24 glued continuously around this hole constitutes an effective reinforcement of this tile in order to strengthen it in its central part which is more fragile.
- the bulb 24 may have relatively thin walls, with a thickness in particular between 1.5 and 3 mm, the base of the contour 50 inserted in the bore 44 occupies a reduced radial distance which makes it possible to provide a large diameter for the passage of the ventilation tube 18.
- the thickness of the surface elevation made from the same material as the tile for a socket tile according to the prior art is generally between 8 and 12 mm.
