Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device comprising a hollow body that is open at the top and a removable cover, in particular a weatherproof grave light.
  • Grave lights usually consist of a cup (can be made of different materials) that is filled with fuel (usually mineral or organic waxes) and has a wick attached.
  • a cover (often made of metal or plastic) is usually placed on top to protect against the weather and for visual reasons. Grave lights are usually burned outdoors and are fully exposed to the elements.
  • covers are known for hollow bodies that are open on one side and in which a candle is arranged, the cover being a hollow body that is open at the bottom and can be plugged or screwed onto the hollow body that is open at the top, with the jacket of the cover in the mounted state the jacket of the open-topped hollow body protrudes upwards, wherein the jacket of the lid is provided with openings.
  • the openings are designed as vertically running openings, which are formed by openings in the jacket of the cover, for example by punching out circular areas.
  • precipitation can easily penetrate through such openings, which then has to be discharged between the cover and the hollow body, which is open on one side at the top.
  • the EP 2955436 A1 shows a grave light cup, which is designed as a hollow body that is open at the top on one side and has an upper end area that tapers upwards, so that water penetrating through the cover is drained off between the cover and the tapered end area.
  • the candlelight is well protected against going out due to gusts of wind and precipitation.
  • the supply of oxygen to the flame is restricted by the upwardly tapering upper end region of the hollow body, which is open on one side at the top, so that the flame is extinguished prematurely due to a lack of oxygen.
  • the lack of oxygen supply can also lead to incomplete combustion, which results in increased CO emissions and soot formation.
  • the object on which the invention is based is to provide an improved hollow body with a lid which is open at the top on one side, which is weatherproof and has good combustion properties and is cheaper to manufacture.
  • a device comprising an upwardly open hollow body and a removable lid, with a fuel mass with a wick arranged in the upwardly open hollow body, the lid being attachable to the hollow body, the jacket of the lid when fitted, protrudes upwards over the shell of the hollow body, which is open at the top, the shell of the lid being provided with openings and the lid being closed at the top, the upper edge of the hollow body, which is open at the top, being higher than the lower edge of the lid, the lid having an inner wall in the region of each opening, the upper inner edge of the inner wall being further inwards and higher than the lower edge of the openings and wherein the lid is placed with its area adjoining below the openings onto the hollow body, which is open at the top, with several channels being present in this area between the inner lateral surface of the lid and the outer lateral surface of the hollow body, with the first end of the channels below the upper inner edge of the inner wall of
