Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method having the features of the introductory part of claim 1 and a device having the features of the introductory part of claim 11.
  • WO 2016/ 062601 Al From WO 2016/ 062601 Al (EP 3 209 842 Bl ) a method for forming a closed, frame-shaped spacer for an insulating glass pane by applying a pasty and subsequently solidifying strand is known.
  • the thickness of the strand should increase at the beginning and decrease complementarily at the end of the strand.
  • the plastic strand which forms the spacer is treated by subjecting one side of the strand to mechanical vibrations. These vibrations are intended to make the position of the interface between the beginning and end of the strand on the side surface that delimits the interior of the insulating glass pane after it has been assembled no longer clearly visible.
  • the generation and transmission of such vibrations is not only complex, but can also lead to the glass panes of the insulating glass pane breaking.
  • DE 44 33 749 A1 From DE 44 33 749 A1 it is known to form the ends of a strand of deformable material applied to a pane of glass, which serves as a spacer in insulating glass, in a wedge-shaped manner at the joint.
  • the wedge-shaped ends of the strand forming the spacer overlap each other at the joint.
  • DE 44 33 749 A1 does not teach any process steps to avoid air inclusions that arise in the area of the joint.
  • KR 20210085350 A and KR 20210085351 A show spacers made of deformable material, whereby the opposite wedge-shaped ends of the strand forming the spacer for insulating glass are arranged in the area of a corner at the joint. Special measures to avoid air inclusions in the area of the joint are not disclosed.
  • EP 2 878 233 A1 discloses a pane composite comprising two panes which are connected to one another by a hardening adhesive arranged between the panes.
  • WO 97/06332 A2 discloses a thermally insulating spacer for insulating glass panes. The spacer comprises a foamed insulating body and a secondary insulating material. However, WO 97/06332 A2 does not disclose any information on how the ends of the spacer can be tightly connected to one another.
  • Air inclusions between a spacer and a pane of glass placed on it also have the disadvantageous effect of reducing the size of the area with which the spacer rests on the pane of glass and thus the adhesive force between the pane of glass and the spacer.
  • the invention is based on the object of specifying a method and a device with which air inclusions in the area of the joint of a spacer can be eliminated.
  • the free edges of the strand forming the spacer are the lateral edges of the surface of the strand facing away from the glass pane to which the strand has been applied as a spacer, i.e. it is not covered but lies exposed. It is preferred if the depressions produced according to the invention are provided on both side surfaces of the strand forming the spacer that are perpendicular to the plane of the glass pane, which can be done simply by providing two projecting, longitudinal ribs on the side of the active surface of a pressure stamp that can be inserted between jaws placed on the side surfaces of the strand.
  • the formation of air inclusions between the strand forming the spacer and the glass pane placed on the free surface of the strand is particularly reliably prevented if, according to a preferred embodiment, the free surface of the strand is deformed during pressing of the joint so that it is convexly curved.

  • Fig. 6 also shows that the pressure stamp 13, which has two legs 21, 22 connected to each other via a curved region 18, is inserted between the bodies 19 and 20 (arrow 25).
  • Fig. 6 shows the situation when the pressure stamp 13 is inserted, and that the pressure stamp 13 has two protruding, longitudinal ribs 17 as projections on its active surface 16 (see also Fig. 8).

  • Fig. 8 shows that the effective surface 16 of the pressure stamp 13 located between the ribs 17 is concavely curved. Due to the concavely curved effective surface 16, the free surface 15 of the strand 3 forming the spacer 1 is deformed when the ends 4 and 5 are pressed together in the region of the joint 7 so that it is convexly curved (cf. Fig. 12 and Fig. 13).
  • the pressure stamp 13 or at least the part of the pressure stamp 13 having the active surface 16 and the ribs 17 of the pressure stamp 13 are made of a material (for example a silicone) to which the material of which the strand 3 is made does not adhere. It is also possible to cover the active surface 16 and the inner sides of the ribs 17 of the pressure stamp 13 with a coating with anti-stick properties, for example with a coating made of a silicone, or to spray them with an anti-stick agent.
  • a material for example a silicone
  • two depressions 9 are formed in the area of the free edges 8 of the strand 3, as shown in Fig. 12 and in Fig. 13.
  • the depressions 9 extend into the side surfaces 14a and 14b of the strand 3.
  • the depressions 9 are also open towards the surface 15 of the strand 3 facing away from the glass pane 2.
  • the described procedure of the method according to the invention is used, for example, in the production of insulating glass panes (double-pane or multi-pane insulating glass) when a spacer made from a strand of deformable material has been applied to a first (or a further) glass pane of the insulating glass pane to be produced.
  • the use of the method and the device according to the invention ensures that there are no air inclusions in the area of the joint between the ends of the strand 3 forming the spacer 1 after the insulating glass blank has been pressed to its desired size. This is because when the insulating glass blank is pressed in the area of the joint 7, air can escape via the depressions 9 produced according to the invention.
  • the device according to the invention can also be used in a system for producing insulating glass.
  • lateral depressions 9 are formed in the strand 3 by ribs 17 which are provided on the effective surface 16 of a pressure stamp 13. Air can escape through the depressions 9 in the area of the joint 7 when a package of glass panes 2 and 23 and spacer 1 containing the spacer 1 with depressions 9 is pressed into an insulating glass blank. This procedure and the device provided for this purpose is used particularly in the manufacture of insulating glass panes.
