Abstract
Nasal pharmaceutical compsn. contg. octreotide of formula (I) is new. The compsn. may be in the form of a liquid, e.g. an aq. soln., a nasal insert, a powder, e.g. particles coated with a layer of (I) and contg. hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, lactose or microcrystalline cellulose. Typically 0.2-1.8 mg (I) is present/20 mg powder, esp. 0.2, 0.4, 0.8 or 1.6 mg/20 mg. The wt. ratio of (I) to particles is 1:10-100. The compsn. may be in unit dosage form, e.g. in a capsule, nasal applicator, aerosol device etc. In an example, a compsn. was prepd. to contain (I) (7.796 mg with 6.315 mg free (I) + 5% excess), glucose (50 mg), 0.1N HCl (to pH 4.2), benzoalkonium chloride chloride (0.11 mg) and water for injection ( to 1 ml). It was used in a nasal spray dispenser.
