UN METODO DE OBTENCION DE DERIVADOS CATIONIZADOS DE POLISACARIDOS NATURALES DE ORIGEN VEGETAL, CON UNA ESTRUCTURA DE POLIGLUCOSIDO DE 50-500 UNIDADES DE MONOMERO Y UNA O MAS CADENAS LATERALES FIJADAS AL NUCLEO GLUCOSIDO, TENIENDO ESTAS CADENAS UNO O MAS ATOMOS DE NITROGENO CUATERNARIO. EL PROCEDIMIENTO CONSISTE ESENCIALMENTE EN PRETRATAR EL POLISACARIDO NATURAL CON UNA SOLUCION ACIDA 0,1-10 M DURANTE 10-30 HORAS A REFLUJO, SI ES INSOLUBLE EN AGUA, O CON UN HIDROXIDO ALCALINO DE 10-30% EN PESO, A TEMPERATURA AMBIENTE, DURANTE 1-3 HORAS, SI ES SOLUBLE EN AGUA. EL POLISACARIDO PRETRATADO SE DISUELVE EN AGUA O UN DISOLVENTE ORGANICO, Y SE REPRECIPITA EN FORMA AMORFA. ESTE PRECIPITADO, SUSPENDIDO EN UN DISOLVENTE ORGANICO, SE TRATA CON AMINAS ALIFATICAS Y/O AROMATICAS Y/O CON AMINOACIDOS CONVENIENTES A LA ESTRUCTURA BUSCADA. POR ULTIMO, LA CADENA O CADENAS LATERALES DEL POLISACARIDO SE CATIONIZAN POR REACCION CON SALES DE AMONIO CUATERNARIO CON UN GRUPO EPOXIDO REACTIVO O CON LAS CORRESPONDIENTEHALOHIDRINAS. ESTOS PRODUCTOS SON ESPECIALMENTE ACTIVOS COMO AGENTES HIPOCOLESTEROLEMICOS.
