UN PEPTIDO DE LA SANGRE HUMANA, HPTH (1-37), CUYA ESTRUCTURA HA SIDO ESCLARECIDA, SE PUEDE UTILIZAR COMO UNA DROGA CON FINES DE DIAGNOSTICO, MEDICOS E INDUSTRIALES. EL AISLAMIENTO DE UN FRAGMENTO DE HPTH (38-64) DEMUESTRA LA EXISTENCIA DEL HPTH (1-37). LA EXTRACCION DE LOS AMINOACIDOS DE TERMINO AMINO EN EL HPTH (1-37) REDUCE SU ACTIVIDAD BIOLOGICA. EL HPTH (1-37) QUE CIRCULA EN LA SANGRE ES IDENTICO A LA SUSTANCIA DE REFERENCIA SINTETICA HPTH (1-37), PERO NO A FRAGMENTOS COMO POR EJEMPLO HPTH (1-33), HPTH (1-34) O HPTH (1-38). LA EXISTENCIA DE LA FORMA MOLECULAR DEL HPTH (1-37) SE PROBO MEDIANTE UNA ESPECTROSCOPIA EN MASA (METODO DE DESORCION DEL PLASMA).
