Abstract

Un método para la preparación de citalopram, que comprende las etapas de: a) reducir un compuesto de **fórmula** en la que R1 es CN, alquil C1-6-oxicarbonilo o alquil C1-6-aminocarbonilo; b) efectuar el cierre del compuesto resultante de **fórmula** en la que R1 se define como antes, obteniéndose un compuesto de **fórmula** en la que R1 se define como antes, c) después, si R1 es ciano, utilizar el compuesto de **fórmula** directamente en la siguiente etapa y si R1 es alquil C1-6-oxicarbonilo, o alquil C1-6-aminocarbonilo, convertir el compuesto de **fórmula** en el compuesto correspondiente, en el que R1 es ciano; y d) alquilar el compuesto 5-ciano resultante de **fórmula** (R1=CN) con halogenuro de 3-dimetilaminopropilo en condiciones básicas, por lo cual se obtiene citalopram, que se aísla como la base o como una de sus sales farmacéuticamente aceptables.
