LA INVENCION SE REFIERE A UN NUEVO PROCESO DE PREPARACION DE ERGOTIONEINA. EL PROCESO DE SINTESIS QUIMICA DE LAS DIFERENTES FORMAS OPTICAS DE LA ERGOTIONEINA SE CARACTERIZA EN QUE COMPRENDE ESENCIALMENTE LAS ETAPAS QUE CONSISTEN EN PREPARAR O UTILIZAR UNA SAL DE ESTER DE HISTIDINANALFAR-NALFA-DIMETILADA, SI ES NECESARIO OPTICAMENTE ACTIVO; EN TRATAR ESTE COMPUESTO, POR UN HALOGENOTIONOFORMIATO DE ALKILO, DE ALQUENILO O DE ARILO, EN PRESENCIA DE UNA BASE; Y TRAS LA PROTECCION DEL SUSTITUYENTE AZUFRADO DEL COMPUESTO OBTENIDO, TRANSFORMAR ESTE ULTIMO EN UN COMPUESTO DE TIPO TRIMETILAMONIO, Y EN LIBERAR LA ERGOTIONEINA DESEADA POR SAPONIFICACION O HIDROLISIS ACIDA, SEGUN EL CASO. ESTE PROCESO PROCURA UN MEJOR RENDIMIENTO Y ASEGURA UNA EXCELENTE PUREZA OPTICA.
