Abstract

Se presenta un sistema de protección que hace posible una protección óptima de los ocupantes de un vehículo contra los efectos de las colisiones laterales, que consta de varios elementos combinados. Un colchón de protección inflable (18), que se infla hasta obtener una gran dureza, está soportado sobre la estructura lateral del vehículo y se dispone en la zona pélvica del ocupante. Por otra parte, se dispone un cuerpo de impacto (14) en el revestimiento interno de la puerta, extendiéndose entre el riel de la puerta y el resposabrazos. Se incluye un colchón de protección inflable adicional (24) a la altura del riel de la puerta, cooperando con una sección de revestimiento liberable (22) y que actúa como una placa de absorción de impactos de manera que suministre una mejor protección en la región del tórax. Se dispone un tercer colchón de protección inflable (32) para el área de la cabeza del ocupante.
