Procedure for the preparation of new 5-nitro-furfurol hydrazones, of the general formula I **(See formula)** where R1 and R3, independently of one another, signify hydrogen or alkyl, alkenyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl radicals, the aryl or aralkyl radicals being optionally substituted by halogen atoms or trifluoromethyl, lower alkyl and/or lower alkoxy, while R2 and R4, independently of one another, signify hydrogen or lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl lower groups, where R1 and R2, or respectively R3 and R4, provided that they represent alkyl radicals, can be linked together directly or by means of an oxygen atom, as well as its salts with inorganic or organic acids, characterized by reacting 5-nitro-furfurol, or one of its functional derivatives with respect to the aldehyde group, with a hydrazinotriazine of the general formula I I **(See formula)** where R1 to R4 have the meaning set forth above, or with a salt of such a hydrazinotriazine and, if desired, by transforming a compound of the general formula I into a salt with an inorganic or organic acid.
