Abstract
Procedimiento y aparato para endurecer superficialmente metales por medio de un haz concentrado de electrones, procedimiento caracterizado porque comprende las fases de generar un haz de electrones; dirigir y enfocar el haz de electrones a una zona deseada sobre la superficie de la pieza de elaboración; hacer que el haz se mueva por incrementos de un punto al siguiente de un modelo o configuración predeterminada de puntos sobre la superficie de trabajo, dirigiéndose el haz a cada punto por turno durante un periodo de tiempo predeterminado y moviéndose el haz de punto a un régimen relativamente rápido; repetir el modelo mencionado de desplazamiento del haz electrónico un número de veces predeterminadas de modo que el material de la superficie alcance una temperatura por encima de la temperatura de transformación del material; controlar el haz electrónico para mantener la temperatura durante un tiempo predeterminado; cortar el flujo de corriente del haz electrónico y dejar que el material seenfrie rápidamente.
