CONSISTE EN LA REACCION DE 2-CLORO-ACRILONITRILO CON DOBLE CANTIDAD MOLAR DE ALCOHOL BENCILICO, EN PRESENCIA DE UN BENCILATO DE METAL ALCALINO, A UNA TEMPERATURA ENTRE -35 C Y 80 C; SEGUIDA DE LA SAPONIFICACION EN PRESENCIA DE UN ACIDO MINERAL, TAL COMO ACIDO CLORHIDRICO; Y, FINALMENTE, INTERCAMBIO DEL ATOMO DE CLORO POR UN GRUPO AZIDO, MEDIANTE UNA AZIDA DE METAL ALCALINO, EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR DE TRANSFERENCIA DE FASE. ESTE COMPUESTO TIENE APLICACIONES COMO INTERMEDIO PARA LA OBTENCION DE D, L-SERINA O SUS DERIVADOS.
