Abstract

Polyester compsn. comprising a linear polyester as main component and 5-20 wt. % (w.r.t. polyester) of an organic diphosphate of the formula: (RO)2P(:O)--X-O-P(:OR)2 in which R is a monovalent aromtic hydrocarbon residue or a halogen-substd. aromatic hydrocarbon residue and X is a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon gp. or a halogen-substd. hydrocarbon gp., Pref. X is a phenylene, diphenylene, diphenylsulphone, or 2,2-phenylenepropane residue and R is phenyl cresyl, xylyl or t-butyl. The polyester is a condensation prod. of one or more dicarboxylic acids or their lower alkyl esters with one or more glycols. The compsns. can be used for prodn. of oriented films or foils having flame-inhibiting props.
