Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé pour préparer le m-phenoxybenzaldéhyde. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à halogéner le m-phénoxytoluène, dans un solvant inerte, avec 1,2 à 2 équivalents molaires d'un agent d'halogénation, en présence d'un initiateur de radicaux libres ou par action de rayonnements UV, pendant une période suffisante pour que la réaction soit pratiquement totale et pour qu'on obtienne un mélange de derivés mono et dihalogénés du m-phénoxytoluène que l'on fait ensuite réagir avec 1,0 à 2,0 équivalents molaires d'hexaméthylènetétramine, dans un solvant constitué d'alcool aqueux en C1 -C3 ou d'acide alcanoïque aqueux en C2 -C3 , et que l'on hydrolyse enfin avec un acide minéral dilué.
