Abstract
1330071 The 3-cyclopentyl ether of 7α-methylestrone CIBA-GEIGY AG 21 April 1971 [24 April 1970] 10427/71 Heading C2U The title compound is prepared by etherification, using a reactive ester of cyclopentanol, of 7α-methyl-estrone or a salt thereof or of a corresponding compound containing in the 17- position a ketalized oxo group or a free or esterified hydroxyl group with subsequent conversion to a 17-one by known methods. In one example the primary product is 3-cyclopentyloxy - 7α - methyl - 17# - hydroxy - #<SP>1,3,5(10)</SP> - estratriene which is converted by oxidation to the required product. The novel steroid is stated to have estrogenic, uterotropic and blastocyte implantation inhibiting action, and it may be made up into pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions with suitable carriers.
