Abstract

Un filtro scambiatore di calore ed umidità comprende uno strato di mezzo idrofobo (10) insieme ad uno strato di mezzo idrofilo (11). Il filtro può essere usato in campo medico con un paziente che impiega sistemi di respirazione aperti, con il materiale idrofilo a valle rispetto al paziente sul percorso di esalazione. Il materiale idrofobo (10) impedisce il passaggio di goccioline e globuli di acqua nel modo noto ed ha pure un punto di gorgogliamento sufficientemente elevato per intrappolare i microorganismi. Il materiale idrofilo (11) cattura il vapore d'acqua che passa attraverso il materiale idrofobo e permette quindi di trattenere una quantità maggiore di umidità da parte del filtro. Questa umidità viene ricuperata dai gas inalati e serve ad assicurare a detti gas una quantità addizionale di umidità.Fig. 1.
