2. Description of the Related Art In general, a liquid crystal panel is attached to a pair of glass substrates via a sealing material formed so as to orbit around a display area, and is sandwiched between the two glass substrates. The liquid crystal is sealed in a region surrounded by the sealant, and the liquid crystal is generally configured. In order to manufacture such a liquid crystal panel, an electrode is formed, an alignment film is applied, and a sealant is printed on a surface of one glass substrate facing the other glass substrate. Further, on the surface of the other glass substrate facing the one glass substrate, formation of a color filter, an electrode, and the like, application of an alignment film, dispersion of spacers, and the like are performed. Then, these glass substrates are transported to a panel bonding apparatus, where the bonding of the two glass substrates, the molding of the cell gap, the main curing of the seal, and the like are performed. Thereafter, after the two glass substrates are cut off, the liquid crystal is sealed in a region sandwiched between the two glass substrates and surrounded by the sealing material, whereby a liquid crystal panel is manufactured.

In recent years, with the miniaturization and weight reduction of portable information devices and the like, the thickness of liquid crystal panels has been increasingly reduced, and the thickness of glass substrates has been reduced to about 0.3 mm. Since such a thin glass substrate (hereinafter, referred to as a thin glass) is easily bent due to its thinness and is difficult to be conveyed and processed, a liquid crystal panel is manufactured by a conveyance process and a bonding as shown in FIGS. And a dividing step.

However, in the method of manufacturing a liquid crystal panel described above, the thin glass 1A,
1B, the transfer glass plates 2A, 2B
It is necessary to remove B from the thin glass plates 1A and 1B, and there is a problem that the number of steps is increased. Moreover, the removal operation itself was difficult. That is, the transport glass plates 2A, 2B are combined with the thin glass plates 1A, 1A.
When the sheet glass 1A, 1B is peeled from the sheet glass 1A, 1B, a stress is applied to the sheet glass 1A, 1B to separate the sheet glass 1A, 1B from the sealing material 4, or the sheet glass 1A, 1B is broken. Occurs and the electrodes formed on the thin glass plates 1A and 1B are cracked to cause disconnection. Also, adhesive 3
When a solvent is used to remove A and 3B, there is a problem that the thin glasses 1A and 1B and the sealing material 4 are adversely affected. For this reason, it is necessary to cut the adhesives 3A and 3B at the intermediate portion or to cut and remove the glass plates 2A and 2B for conveyance. In such a case, too, the stress is applied to the thin glass 1A and 1B side. But it was inevitable. Also, in the thin glass sheet 1A and the thin glass sheet 1B having a narrow gap, it is inevitable to form the scribe grooves 5A and 5B on the surface on the opposite side (outside) of the facing surface. As shown in (B), the other thin glass 1B is pressed to press one thin glass 1B.
It is necessary to press the back side of the scribe groove 5A of A.
For this reason, there has been a problem that the pressing jig presses the other thin glass 1B and adversely affects the thin glass 1B. Further, in order to separate the other thin glass 1B by the scribe grooves 5B, it is necessary to press the thin glass 1B from the surface opposite to the surface on which the scribe grooves 5B are formed.
The pressing jig contacts the edge of one of the thin glass plates 1A,
There was a problem of adversely affecting the thin glass 1A.

In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal panel according to the present invention comprises a pair of thin glass plates constituting a liquid crystal panel, each of which is opposed to a different glass plate for transportation. A pair of transfer units are created by pasting, and the thin glass plates of the pair of transfer units are bonded to each other via a sealing member so as to face each other, and the thin glass plate is cut along a scheduled cutting line outside the sealing member. A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal panel, comprising: forming a scribe groove in advance on each of the facing surfaces of the thin glass opposed via the sealing material along the planned dividing line; Forming a pair of transport units by forming scribe grooves in advance on the surface of the plate that faces the thin glass along the planned dividing line, After the thin glass sheets are opposed to each other by opposing a feeding unit and bonded together via the sealing material, a surface of the pair of transport units opposite to a surface on which the scribe grooves of the transport glass plates are formed. And pressing the position corresponding to the scribe groove to separate the transfer glass plate and the thin plate glass of each transfer unit at each scribe groove.

[0011] According to such a configuration of the present invention, it is possible to improve the transportability of the thin glass that is difficult to be placed on the transport line, and to facilitate the work of bonding a pair of thin glass. That is, if the transport glass plate that holds the thin glass is transparent, the positioning of the pair of thin glass can be easily performed. In addition, a scribe groove is formed on the opposite surface of the thin glass in advance, and a scribe groove is also formed on the surface of the transfer glass plate facing the thin glass in the same transfer unit in advance. The traveling direction of the vertical crack in the scribe groove of the glass plate for conveyance is the same direction. For this reason, when the thin glass sheets are bonded to each other with a sealant facing each other, the scribe grooves of the transport units to which the thin glass sheets belong are easily broken in directions opposite to each other. Then, by pressing (pressing) a position corresponding to the scribe groove on the surface opposite to the surface on which the scribe groove is formed on the glass plate for conveyance of one of the transfer units, the transfer plate constituting the one transfer unit is formed. The scribe grooves of the glass plate and the thin glass plate are easily broken by the action of being pushed and spread, and the vertical cracks progress. At this time, the scribe grooves of the thin glass and the transfer glass plate of the other transfer unit undergo an action of being narrowed, but the vertical cracks do not easily proceed, so that the separation is unlikely to occur. Thereafter, if pressing is performed at a position corresponding to the scribe groove on the surface opposite to the surface on which the scribe groove of the transfer glass plate of the other transfer unit is formed, the transfer glass plate and the thin glass of the other transfer unit are pressed. Due to the action of expanding the scribe grooves, vertical cracks progress and cause division.

As described above, according to the present invention, it is not necessary to peel off or cut the glass sheet for conveyance from the thin glass sheet after laminating the pair of thin glass sheets, so that generation of particles and the like can be suppressed. In addition, the number of steps can be reduced. In addition, since the directions in which the assembled transport units are easily separated are opposite to each other, no stress is exerted to separate the thin glass sheets constituting the liquid crystal cell, so that adverse effects on the liquid crystal cell can be suppressed.

According to the present invention, the panel can be easily divided by forming the scribe grooves over the mutually parallel sides of the surface of the thin glass sheet and the glass sheet for conveyance. That is, since the scribe groove is formed linearly so as to cross the thin glass and the glass sheet for conveyance,
Since the bending directions of the thin glass sheet and the glass sheet for conveyance due to the pressing become uniform, a uniform dividing plane can be formed.

In the present invention, the scribe grooves may be formed on the surfaces of the thin glass sheet and the glass sheet for conveyance so as to draw a rectangle surrounding the position where the sealant is disposed. According to such a configuration of the present invention, it becomes possible to cut the thin glass and the transport glass plate constituting the transport unit by the scribe groove by one pressing operation. For this reason, when a pair of thin glass sheets are pasted together via a sealing material, two transport units are assembled, but these can be separated by scribe grooves by pressing twice. For this reason, there is an effect of further reducing the number of steps.
In the case where the scribe groove is formed in a rectangular shape as described above, the scribe groove is preferably set to be slightly deeper.

Further, in the present invention, it is preferable that the thin glass sheet and the glass sheet for conveyance, which constitute the conveyance unit, are bonded to each other with an adhesive so as to be separated from each other by a predetermined distance. According to the present invention having such a configuration, it is possible to prevent the transfer glass plate from pressing the peripheral portion of the thin glass when the transfer glass plate is pressed during the dividing operation, which has an adverse effect on the liquid crystal cell. Further, in the present invention, it is preferable that the adhesive contains a gap material for defining a distance between the thin glass and the glass sheet for conveyance. According to the present invention having such a configuration, the gap between the thin glass sheet and the glass sheet for conveyance can be defined by the gap material. For this reason, it is possible to suppress the transfer glass from pressing the peripheral edge of the separated transfer glass plate at the time of pressing accompanying the cutting operation.

The method of manufacturing the transport unit U1 including the one thin glass 11 forming the liquid crystal panel has been described above. However, the other thin glass 14 facing and disposed on the one thin glass 11 and forming the liquid crystal panel has been described. 2B, a similar transport unit U2 is fabricated by applying the same fabrication method as shown in FIG. Note that the thin glass 1 in the transport unit U2 is
The scribe grooves 14A, 14A, 14B, and 14B are formed on the surface facing the substrate 1 so that the positional relationship between the scribe grooves 11A, 11A, 11B, and 11B on the thin glass 11 side is the same in the planar or cross-sectional structure. I do. Further, a scribe groove 14A of the thin glass 14 is provided on a surface of the transport glass plate 15 which holds the thin glass 14 with the adhesives 16 and 16A.
The scribe grooves 15A, 15A, 15B, 15B are formed so that the positional relationship is the same as that of 14A, 14B, 14B in a planar or cross-sectional structure. That is, the bonding structure of the thin glass 14 and the glass plate 15 for transfer is exactly the same as the bonding structure of the thin glass 11 and the glass plate 12 for transfer.

Thereafter, the transport units U1 and U2 thus bonded are transported to a dividing line (not shown), and are separated by a break machine (not shown). In the dividing method performed here, as shown in FIG. 3, for example, the transport glass plate 12 is placed on the base 18. Then, a position (indicated by a thick arrow in FIG. 3) is applied to the position corresponding to the scribe grooves 15 </ b> A of the glass plate 15 for conveyance. That is, the scribe grooves 15A, 15B are formed on the surface of the glass plate 15 for conveyance opposite to the surface on which the scribe grooves 15A, 15B are formed.
B is pressed to a position where the positional relationship is the same in the planar or cross-sectional structure above and below, so that the scribe grooves 15 </ b> A, 14 </ b> A of the transport glass plate 15 and the thin glass 14.
A is separated by advancing and spreading action of a vertical crack. At this time, the glass sheet 15 for conveyance has no connection with the thin glass 14, so that the thin glass 1
4 can be removed. Thus, the division of the thin glass 14 and the glass sheet 15 for conveyance is completed.

Thereafter, as shown in FIG.
4 is placed on the base 18, and pressure is applied to the position corresponding to the scribe grooves 12 A of the glass plate 12 for conveyance in the same manner. By this pressing, the vertical cracks in the scribe grooves 12A and 11A of the glass sheet 12 for conveyance and the thin glass sheet 11 are pushed apart and cut. As a result, the glass plate 12 for conveyance can be removed because there is no connection portion with the thin glass 11. Thus, the liquid crystal panel (liquid crystal cell) 10 in which the liquid crystal is not sealed as shown in FIG. 4 can be manufactured. After such a dividing step, the liquid crystal panel 10 can be completed by injecting (vacuum injecting) and sealing a liquid crystal material from the opening 17A of the sealing material 17 shown in FIG. .

In the first embodiment, the thin glass 1
Since the transfer units U1 and U2 are formed by adhering the transfer glass plates 1 and 14 to the transfer glass plates 12 and 15, respectively, the rigidity of the transfer glass plates 12 and 15 can be enjoyed.
Moreover, since the thin glass plates 11 and 14 are protected by the glass plates 12 and 15 for transportation, they can be smoothly transported along the transportation (flow) line without being damaged. In addition, since the glass plates 12 and 15 for transportation can be automatically divided and detached by the scribe grooves by being pressed in the dividing step, as in the conventional case, the adhesive is peeled or cut, or the glass plate for transportation is removed. It is possible to avoid work that has a large adverse effect on the thin glass, such as cutting a glass plate, and reduce the number of steps. Furthermore, in this embodiment, since the transport unit directly pressurized by the break machine can be divided, it is possible to prevent an unnecessary bending load from being applied to the thin glass as in the related art.

The scribe grooves 11A and 11B are formed so as not to extend between the two opposing substrate sides, but to form one side of the square inside the outer shape (each substrate side) of the thin glass 11. . Accordingly, the adhesive 13 is formed so as to surround the outside of the square formed by the scribe grooves 11A and 11B. The structure of the transport unit U1 is the same in the transport unit U2. In the second embodiment, with such a configuration, the thin glass sheets 11 and 14 are bonded together with the sealing material 17 interposed therebetween, and cut into pieces at once by scribe grooves forming the respective sides of the square. Therefore, the number of dividing steps may be two. In the second embodiment, it is preferable to set the depth of the scribe groove relatively deep in order to divide the scribe grooves formed along different directions.
