Abstract
【解決手段】分子量が650〜3500ダルトンの範囲である低分子量臭素化エポキシド(LMW BE)を、触媒の存在下、溶媒を用いることなく、100〜250℃の温度で、テトラブロモビスフェノール−A(TBBA)とトリブロモフェノール(TBP)に反応させる高分子量難燃剤を調整する方法。

−フリーのトリブロモフェノール含量が難燃剤全量の0.1重量%未満であること;
−有機溶媒(沸点が250℃未満のもの)が難燃剤全量の100ppm未満、好ましくは50ppm未満であること。
(I)で表される未修飾BEを10〜0mol%含む。
揮発性物質含量 21ppm w/wメチルイソブチルケトン(MIBK)。
数平均分子量 10100ダルトン
軟化点 187℃
揮発性物質含量(ガスクロマトグラフィーにより測定) 13ppm MIBK
臭素含有量 53.1重量%
EEW 27000g/当量
酸価 0.07mg KOH/g
%エポキシ末端基 18.5mol%
本例は、HMW MBE(F−3100 R)の調製を説明するものである。残存MIBK量が470ppmのLMW BEを使用した以外は実施例1に記載の手続きに従った。粉砕・分析を行い、次の各種特性を測定した。

Claims (2)
- エンジニアリング熱可塑性プラスチック組成物のための高分子量難燃剤を調整する方法であって、前記難燃剤は次式(I)及び/又は(II)及び/又は(III)で表される化合物の混合物を含み、
前記式中nは整数であり、
前記難燃剤が、
(a)末端基の少なくとも80mol%がトリブロモフェニル−オキソ−2−ヒドロキシプロピル基、該末端基の高々20mol%がグリシジル基であり、
(b)フリートリブロモフェノール含量が難燃剤全体の0.1重量%未満で、
(c)沸点が250℃未満の有機溶媒の含有量が、金属部品の腐食を抑制できる、難燃剤全体の100ppm未満であり、
前記方法が、分子量が650〜3500ダルトンの範囲である低分子量臭素化エポキシド(LMW BE)を、触媒の存在下、溶媒を用いることなく、100〜250℃の温度で、テトラブロモビスフェノール−A(TBBA)とトリブロモフェノール(TBP)に反応させる段階を含み、
前記LWE BEが、有機溶媒を除去する段階なしに、沸点250℃未満の有機溶媒含有量が調整された難燃剤全体の100ppm未満となる低さの揮発性物質含量を有する、ことを特徴とするエンジニアリング熱可塑性プラスチック組成物のための高分子量難燃剤を調整する方法。 - トリブロモフェノールの全部あるいは一部をトリブロモフェニルグリシジルエーテルで置き換える、請求項1に記載の方法。
