Claims (13)
- 複数の波長を含む光を分波又は合波する透過型の回折格子素子であって、
第1平面を画成する第1媒質(屈折率n1)と、
前記第1媒質の前記平面に平行な第4平面を画成する第4媒質(屈折率n 4 )と、
前記第1媒質から前記第4媒質までの間において前記第1平面に平行な第2平面及び第3平面を順に画成する第2媒質(屈折率n 2 )および第3媒質(屈折率n 3 、ただし、n 3 <n 2 )であって、該第2平面及び該第3平面の間において前記第1平面に平行な所定方向に交互に設けられて回折格子を形成している第2媒質および第3媒質と、
前記第1平面と前記第2平面との間に、前記第1平面および前記第2平面に接して設けられた第5媒質(平均屈折率n5)と、
前記第3平面と前記第4平面との間に、前記第3平面および前記第4平面に接して設けられた第6媒質(平均屈折率n6)と、
を備え、
前記第2平面と前記第3平面との間における平均屈折率をnavとしたときに、前記第5媒質の平均屈折率n5が「n1<n5<nav」または「nav<n5<n1」なる関係式を満たし、前記第6媒質の平均屈折率n6が「n4<n6<nav」または「nav<n6<n4」なる関係式を満たし、
前記第5媒質の平均屈折率n 5 が「(n 1 n av ) 1/2 −0.2<n 5 <(n 1 n av ) 1/2 +0.2」なる関係式を満たし、
前記第6媒質の平均屈折率n 6 が「(n 4 n av ) 1/2 −0.2<n 6 <(n 4 n av ) 1/2 +0.2」なる関係式を満たし、
前記第2媒質の屈折率n 2 と前記第3媒質の屈折率n 3 との差が0.7以上である、
回折格子素子。 - 前記回折格子の周期をΛとし、前記第1平面に垂直な方向についての前記第5媒質の厚みをh5とし、波長λの光が前記回折格子に入射するとしたときに、「λΛ/4(4n5 2Λ2−λ2)1/2<h5<3λΛ/4(4n5 2Λ2−λ2)1/2」なる関係式を満たす光の波長λが波長帯域1.26μm〜1.675μm内に存在する、請求項1記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記回折格子の周期をΛとし、前記第1平面に垂直な方向についての前記第6媒質の厚みをh6とし、波長λの光が前記回折格子に入射するとしたときに、「λΛ/4(4n6 2Λ2−λ2)1/2<h6<3λΛ/4(4n6 2Λ2−λ2)1/2」なる関係式を満たす光の波長λが波長帯域1.26μm〜1.675μm内に存在する、請求項2記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記第5媒質が前記所定方向に交互に設けられた複数の媒質からなる、請求項1記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記第6媒質が前記所定方向に交互に設けられた複数の媒質からなる、請求項4記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記第2媒質がTiO2,Ta2O5およびNb2O5の何れかであり、前記第3媒質が気体である、請求項1記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記第2媒質または前記第3媒質がエネルギ線照射により屈折率が変化し得る所定材料からなる、請求項1に記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記所定材料がダイヤモンド様炭素である、請求項7記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記第1媒質または前記第4媒質が、前記第2媒質または前記第3媒質よりエッチングレートが遅い所定材料からなる、請求項1に記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記第5媒質または前記第6媒質が、前記第2媒質または前記第3媒質よりエッチングレートが遅い所定材料からなる、請求項1記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記所定材料がAl2O3,MgO,Nd2O3およびフッ素系化合物の何れかである、請求項9又は10に記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記第2媒質または前記第3媒質がTiO2,Nb2O5,Ta2O5,SiN,SiO2,SiO,ZrO2,Sb2O3の何れかである、請求項9又は10に記載の回折格子素子。
- 前記第2の媒質と前記第3の媒質とは互いに接している、請求項1に記載の回折格子素子。
