Description
Claims (5)
- 第1基板と第2基板との間に挟持された液晶層を備え、マトリクス状に配置された複数の表示画素からなる表示部と前記表示部を囲む周辺部とを有するOCBモードの液晶表示装置であって、
前記第1基板は、前記複数の表示画素のそれぞれに対応して配置された画素電極を有し、
前記第2基板は、前記複数の画素電極に対向する対向電極を有し、
前記複数の画素電極および前記対向電極の上にそれぞれ配置され、ラビング処理によって前記液晶層に含まれる液晶分子の配向状態を制御する一対の配向膜を備え、
前記周辺部は、前記表示部がベンド配向とされた際に、少なくとも前記配向膜のラビング方向の終端側に前記液晶分子をスプレイ配向させるスプレイ領域を有している液晶表示装置。 - 前記スプレイ領域において、前記第1基板は前記対向電極と対向するとともに前記対向電極と略同電位となる導電層を有する請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記周辺部は、前記液晶分子をベンド配向させるベンド領域を有し、
前記スプレイ領域は、前記表示部と前記ベンド領域との間に配置されている請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板は、前記ベンド領域において、前記対向電極と対向するとともに前記対向電極とは異なる固定電位が印加された配線を有するとともに、前記スプレイ領域において、前記対向電極と対向するとともに前記対向電極と略同電位の導電層を有し、
前記導電層は、前記配線を跨いで前記ベンド領域の外側に延びた誘導パスを有している請求項3記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板は、前記スプレイ領域において、前記対向電極とは異なる固定電位が印加された配線を有し、
前記導電層は、絶縁層を介して前記配線を覆うように配置された請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
