Description
Claims (14)
- ピアツーピアミリ波ネットワークで第2の無線装置と通信するための無線装置であって、
各々の複数の方向の中で、信号を通信するために構成可能な指向性アンテナと;
前記指向性アンテナによる前記第2の無線装置からのビーコン信号の受信に基づいて、前記第2の無線装置と通信するための、2つ以上の方向を特定する処理回路であって、前記2つ以上の方向は、最初に選択された方向および代替の方向を含み、かつリンクの確立の前に特定される、処理回路と;
前記最初に選択された方向に前記指向性アンテナによって、前記第2の無線装置とリンクを確立し、少なくとも予め定められた時間の間、前記最初に選択された方向の前記指向性アンテナから受信された信号のレベルが予め定められたレベルを下回ることが示されたため、前記最初に選択された方向のリンクが悪化した場合、前記指向性アンテナによって、前記代替の方向に前記リンクを再確立する、ミリ波トランシーバであって、前記指向性アンテナでビーム操作を実行することによって、かつ、前記代替の方向の前記リンクの信号品質にかかわりなく、前記リンクは、前記代替の方向に自動的に再確立される、ミリ波トランシーバと;
を有し、
前記代替の方向は、予め定められた見通し外(NLOS)の方向であって、異なる通信パスによる前記リンクの再確立に用いるためのものであり、前記最初に選択された方向とは異なり、
当該無線装置は、第1の無線装置であって、
前記第1の無線装置の前記処理回路は、前記リンクを確立する前に、前記第2の無線装置から受信されたビーコン信号に基づいて、2つ以上の方向を最初に特定し、
前記第1の無線装置は、前記第2の無線装置による受信のために、最初に選択された、および、代替の方向を特定するために前記第2の無線装置が利用するために、前記ビーコン信号を更に送信し、
次のビーコン信号は、前記リンクの確立後に、通信のための1つ以上の方向を再度特定するために、バックグラウンドアクティビティの一部として、前記リンクを確立する前よりも低速度で送信される、
無線装置。 - 前記第2の無線装置が、同様に前記第1の無線装置と通信する前記2つ以上の方向を特定し、かつ、前記第1の無線装置と前記最初に選択された方向に確立された前記リンクが悪化したときに、前記第1の無線装置と通信する前記代替の方向を選択する、請求項1に記載の無線装置。
- 前記第1および第2の無線装置が、前記リンクを確立するために前記最初に選択された方向について同意し、
更に、前記リンクを再確立するために前記代替の方向について同意し、かつ
前記最初に選択された方向に確立された前記リンクが悪化したときに、前記代替の方向に通信するために、切り替を調整する、
請求項2に記載の無線装置。 - 前記リンクは、ミリ波周波数で高スループットデータチャネルを通じて確立され、かつ、
マイクロ波周波数での制御チャネルを使用して、前記第1および第2の無線装置が切り替の調整を行う、
請求項2に記載の無線装置。 - 前記第1の無線装置の前記処理回路および前記第2の無線装置の前記処理回路は、1つ以上のリンクパラメータに基づいて、通信のための方向を選択する、
請求項2に記載の無線装置。 - 前記第1および第2の無線装置は、通信するために代替の方向に実質的に同時に切り替え、かつ、
前記第1の無線装置は、前記指向性アンテナによって前記第2の無線装置から受信された信号の信号レベルに基づいて、前記第2の無線装置と通信するための2つ以上の方向を特定し、かつ、
前記第2の無線装置は、前記第1の無線装置から受信された信号の信号レベルに基づいて、前記第1の無線装置と通信するための2つ以上の方向を特定する、
請求項2に記載の無線装置。 - 前記第1の無線装置は、前記代替の方向を選択するために、前記第2の無線装置に通知し、かつ、
前記第2の無線装置は、前記第1の無線装置と通信するための前記代替の方向を、これに反応して選択する、
請求項5に記載の無線装置。 - 前記指向性アンテナは、複数のセクター内で通信するための、セクター化されたアンテナを有し、前記2つ以上の方向は、前記指向性アンテナの2つ以上のセクターに対応し、
前記指向性アンテナは、1つの前記方向に対応する選択された1つ以上の前記セクターで通信するために、前記処理回路から提供される制御信号に応答する、
請求項1に記載の無線装置。 - 前記指向性アンテナは、選択された1つ以上の前記方向に通信するために、前記処理回路により提供された制御信号に応答して、電子的にステアリング可能である、
請求項1に記載の無線装置。 - 前記指向性アンテナは、選択された1つ以上の前記方向に通信するために、前記処理回路により提供された制御信号に応答して、機械的にステアリング可能である、
請求項1に記載の無線装置。 - 前記処理回路は、前記最初に選択された方向の前記指向性アンテナにより前記第2の無線装置から受信された信号の信号レベルに基づいて、前記最初に選択された方向に確立された前記リンクが悪化していることを決定し、かつ、
前記信号レベルは、パワーレベル、信号対雑音比、信号対雑音および干渉比、パケットエラーレート、処理能力レベルのうち少なくとも1つを有する、
請求項1に記載の無線装置。 - 前記信号は、57から90ギガヘルツの間の周波数のミリ波を有する複数の実質的に直交したサブキャリアを含むマルチキャリア信号を有する、
請求項1に記載の無線装置。 - 前記第1および前記第2の無線装置がピアツーピア無線ネットワークのピアデバイスとして動作する、
請求項2に記載の無線装置。 - 前記第1および前記第2の無線装置が、メッシュネットワークの中でノードとして動作し、かつ
前記最初に選択された方向および代替の方向の前記第1および第2の無線装置間の通信は、前記メッシュネットワークの他の無線装置に代わって送られるパケットを含む、
