Claims (8)
- 溶融物質が流れる方向の上流にある、固体バッチ物質を導入する区間;
1つ以上の液中バーナー;及び
オーバーヘッド型バーナー;
を含む、バッチ物質を溶融させる炉であって、
前記液中バーナーの各々が、前記溶融物質の溶融ガラス中に対流を生じさせ、
前記液中バーナーの少なくとも1つが、前記オーバーヘッド型バーナーに付設されており、
前記オーバーヘッド型バーナーは、前記付設されている液中バーナーから気泡が発生する部分で前記溶融ガラスの表面に当たる炎を供給し、
前記オーバーヘッド型バーナーにより生じる前記炎と前記付設されている液中バーナーにより生じる炎の両方に由来する熱が、前記溶融ガラスの前記表面の一カ所に集中し、かつ
前記1つ以上の液中バーナーは、前記1つ以上の液中バーナーにより生じる前記対流により障壁を形成し、前記固体バッチ物質を前記炉の前記上流へ送り、それにより、前記固体バッチ物質が前記液中バーナーのいずれかを越して前記炉の下流端へ進むことを防止する、
バッチ物質を溶融させる炉。 - 前記障壁の各液中バーナーに別のオーバーヘッド型バーナーが付設されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の炉。
- 前記障壁内の液中バーナーの数が、少なくとも[L/2Hの80%]の整数部分(ただし、Lは炉の幅であり、Hは炉中の溶融ガラスの高さである。)に等しいことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の炉。
- 前記溶融物質の流路に沿って液中バーナーの複数の連続的な障壁を含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の炉。
- 請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の炉中で溶融を行なうことを特徴とするバッチ物質を溶融させる方法。
- 前記溶融ガラスの上に前記バッチ物質を導入してバッチ堆積物を形成し、前記液中バーナーを前記堆積物の末端に配置することを特徴とする請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記オーバーヘッド型バーナーからのガスが、15m/s以上の速度でガラスの表面に到達することを特徴とする請求項5又は6に記載の方法。
- 前記液中バーナーの炎が1800℃を超えていることを特徴とする請求項5〜7のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
