Description
本実施例は、本発明に従う方法が、填料保持率および高い填料含有量の紙シートの強度を明瞭に高めることを、示すために実施した。この試験に使用した材料は以下のとおりである。
試験においては、乾燥硬材(カバノキ)の漂白化学パルプを使用した。約360g(o.d.)のパルプを、5lの水に一晩浸し、Valley beater(ISO 5264−1)にて1.6%のコンシステンシで50分間叩解して、約42のShopper−Riegler(SR)数(ISO 5267−1)とした。その後、2lの水を用いて叩解機に残存する最後の繊維を除去し、繊維懸濁液に加えた。懸濁液をBauer McNett classifier(SCAN−CM 6:05)において分画し、200メッシュのすき網を用いて微細繊維画分を除去した。この時点で、SR数は約18であった。最後に、パルプを洗浄した。つまり、まず、酸性処理液(0.01M塩酸)で金属イオンを除去し、その後、1mMの重炭酸ナトリウムで処理して、繊維をナトリウム型に変換した。これら2処理の後、パルプを脱イオン水で徹底的に洗浄した。
填料は、市販の偏三角面体(scalenohedral)沈降炭酸カルシウム(PCC)であった。製造元によれば、このPCCの平均粒子サイズは2.3μm、輝度は95%、乾物含量は19.9%であった。
ナノ繊維化セルロースは、酵素前処理工程を含む、完全漂白軟材の高圧均質化によって得た。このやり方の原理は、Paakkoらによって公開されている(Enzymatic hydrolysis combined with mechanical shearing and high pressure homogenization for nanoscale cellulose fibrils and strong gels, Biomacromolecules (8), pp. 1934-1941, 2007)。使用する直前に、NFC−ゲル(約1〜2%の固体分)を脱イオン水で希釈し、Branson Digital Sonifier(Branson Ultrasonics Corporation, Danbury, USA)を用いて、25%の振幅設定で2分間、分解した。
0.035の置換度を有するカチオン性でんぷん(CS)が、Ciba Specialty Chemical(Raisio, Finland)から供給された。使用の前に、2g(o.d.)/lのでんぷん溶液をオートクレーブ中で120℃にて20分間加熱した。
−繊維分散物のみを有する対照(対照試料)
−繊維およびカチオン性でんぷんを有するもの(試料CS2.5、CS5およびCS10)
−繊維およびNFCを有するもの(試料NFC25およびNFC50)
−繊維、カチオン性でんぷんおよびNFCを有するもの(試料CS2.5+NFC25およびCS2.5+NFC50)。
この実施例の目的は、填料および繊維をカチオン性でんぷんおよびナノ繊維化セルロースと混合する異なる方策を試験して、紙強度に対するそれらの影響を明らかにすることであった。別の目的は、微細繊維が存在する状況において充填紙の強度を高めるための、NFCとカチオン性でんぷんとを組み合せることの効果を示すことであった。
繊維
乾燥硬材(カバノキ)の漂白化学パルプを、この実施例でも使用した。約360gのパルプを、5lの水に一晩浸し、Valley beater(ISO 5264−1)にて1.6%のコンシステンシで50分間叩解して、約42のShopper−Riegler(SR)数(ISO 5267−1)とした。その後、2lの水を用いて叩解機をすすぎ、繊維懸濁液に加えた。最後に、パルプを洗浄した。つまり、まず、酸性処理液(0.01M塩酸)で金属イオンを除去し、その後、1mMの重炭酸ナトリウムで処理して、繊維をナトリウム型に変換した。これら2処理の後、パルプを脱イオン水で徹底的に洗浄した。
乾燥していない硬材をMasuko supermass colloiderを用いて、3%のコンシステンシで、200μmの石間隔で、分解した。紙シートに使用するNFCは、コロイダを5回通して得た。
0.035の置換度のカチオン性でんぷん(CS)(Raisamyl 50021)が、Ciba Specialty Chemical(Raisio, Finland)から供給された。使用の前に、2g(o.d.)/lのでんぷん溶液をオートクレーブ中で120℃にて20分間加熱した。
市販の偏三角面体沈降炭酸カルシウム(PCC)
製造元によれば、このPCCの平均粒子サイズは2.3μm、輝度は95%、乾物含量は19.9%であった。
− 方策1(図7a):繊維を脱イオン水の懸濁液として容器に入れた。並行して、カチオン性でんぷんを容器中で脱イオン水で希釈し、PCCと15分間混合した。その後、これらの予混合した懸濁液を容器に注いで15分混合した。
− 方策2(図7b):繊維を脱イオン水の懸濁液として容器に入れた。並行して、カチオン性でんぷんを容器中で脱イオン水で希釈し、PCCと15分間混合した。その後、NFCをこの懸濁液に加え、全てを再び15分間混合した。最後に、両内容物を容器に注いで15分間混合した。
− 方策3(図7c):繊維を脱イオン水の懸濁液として容器に入れた。並行して、カチオン性でんぷん(CS)を容器中で脱イオン水で希釈し、NFCおよびPCC(容器に同時に加えた)と15分間混合した。その後、両内容物を容器に注いで15分間混合した。− 方策4(図7d):繊維を脱イオン水の懸濁液として容器に入れた。その後、PCC、カチオン性でんぷんおよびNFCを繊維懸濁液に連続して加え、15分間混合した。
− 方策5(図7e):この方策は方策3に類似しているが、今回は、全量のでんぷんを、繊維懸濁液の容器と、NFCおよびPCCの容器とに等分した。
− 方策6(図7f):繊維を脱イオン水の懸濁液として容器に入れ、でんぷんと15分間混合した。並行して、NFCを脱イオン水の懸濁液として容器に入れ、PCCと15分間混合した。その後、両内容物を容器に注いで15分間混合した。
− 方策7(図7g):繊維を脱イオン水の懸濁液として容器に入れ、PCCと15分間混合した。これを対照試料として用いた。
(1)紙または板紙の製造に使用される水性完成紙料を調製する方法であって、少なくとも填料を繊維懸濁液に加えることによって完成紙料を調製する方法において、
填料および/または繊維を、カチオン性高分子電解質およびナノ繊維化セルロースで処理することを特徴とする方法。
Claims (10)
- 紙または板紙の製造に使用される水性完成紙料を調製する方法であって、少なくとも填料を繊維懸濁液に加えることによって完成紙料を調製し、填料をカチオン性高分子電解質およびナノ繊維化セルロースで処理する方法において、
第1に、填料を、カチオン性高分子電解質で処理し、続いてあらかじめ高圧均質化処理および酵素処理によって得られたナノ繊維化セルロースで処理して、填料の懸濁液を作製するとともに、繊維を含む繊維の懸濁液を作製し、
第2に、前記繊維の懸濁液と前記填料の懸濁液とを混合し、
填料の含有量が、完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量の1〜60%であることを特徴とする方法。 - 填料の含有量が、完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量の20〜40%であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 填料が沈降炭酸カルシウム(PCC)であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- ナノ繊維化セルロースを、完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量の0.01〜20%の量で加えることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- ナノ繊維化セルロースを、完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量の1〜10%の量で加えることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- ナノ繊維化セルロースを、完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量の1〜3%の量で加えることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- カチオン性高分子電解質を、完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量の0.01〜5%の量で加えることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- カチオン性高分子電解質を、完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量の2〜4%の量で加えることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- カチオン性高分子電解質がカチオン性でんぷんであることを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 紙または板紙を製造する方法であって、
請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の方法で完成紙料が調製され、当該完成紙料から紙または板紙が製造されることを特徴とする方法。
