Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the competition of a memory and to prevent deterioration of the processing capacity by executing an access first to other module which is not showing a busy state, when a memory module to be brought to access is in a busy state. CONSTITUTION:A processor 1 reads out memory constituting information in a memory constitution control register 12 by a memory constitution read-out instruction 11, holds it in a memory constituting information store register 13, and also, responds to a request signal 15 and executes an access to a bank of a module in a memory device 2. In such a case, an access sequence changing means 16 in the processor 1 changes the sequence for executing the access by the memory constituting information in the register 13 and a busy state display of a busy state detecting means 14, and the access is executed first to the module which is not showing a busy state.

Conventionally, this type of information processing equipment has not been provided with a function to check the configuration of modules within the memory device, and even when the configuration of the memory device changes due to degenerate operation, etc. Information such as access was processed using the same algorithm as before the change. Therefore, when a module in a busy state is accessed, memory contention occurs, and control is performed such that the sending of a request signal is made to wait until the module becomes free.

The conventional access operation is shown in Figs. 4, 5, and 6.
This will be explained using FIG. 7 and FIG. 4 and 5 are conceptual diagrams showing the configuration of modules in the memory device 2.
Assuming a 256 megabyte memory device in □ in FIG. 1, if it is divided into 8 modules and each module is composed of 16 banks, the total will be 128 banks. Then, bank addresses are assigned as shown in FIG. 4, with the first bank address of the first module (1) being r□, and the bank address "1" being taken from the next module.

That is, while bank address "1" is in a busy state, bank address "5" cannot be accessed, and while bank address "3" is in a busy state, bank address "7" cannot be accessed. Therefore, as shown in Figure 7, access to bank address "5" is started after access to bank address "1" is completed, and access to "7" is started after access to bank address "3" is completed. In order to start access, requests cannot be sent to the memory device every cycle, resulting in empty cycles.
