Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title tape free from fraying at the edge by laminating and bonding two to four plies of glass cloth in tape form prepared by weaving glass fiber yarn into the glass cloth and slitting it. CONSTITUTION:Two to four strips of glass cloth 4 woven of glass fiber yarn 2, 3 are laminated and bonded to one another with an adhesive 5 to form a stock roll base 6. A self-adhesive 7 is applied to at least one side of the stock roll base 6, and a release sheet 8 is stuck to the surface of the self-adhesive 7, thus forming a stock roll 9. The stock roll 9 is slit into a plurality of heat insulating self-adhesive tapes 1, thus producing an objective heat insulating self-adhesive tape. This technique gives a heat insulating self-adhesive tape free from fraying at the edge and unsuitableness in use and appearance.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, the glass fiber yarns 22 and 23 constituting the glass cloth 24 have a strong tendency to straighten, and furthermore, the fibers tend to slip on each other. When a cut at the side edge or a through hole (not shown) is provided, there is a problem in that the glass fiber yarn 2223 frays at the edge as shown in FIG. In particular, the number of fibers and fiber diameter are large,
Therefore, when thick glass fiber yarns are used, the above-mentioned tangles are severe and cause problems in terms of appearance and use.

First, to explain the heat insulating adhesive tape 1 of this example, the first
As shown in the figure, two sheets of glass cloth 4 each made of plain weave glass fiber yarns 2 as warp yarns and glass fiber yarns 3 as weft yarns are stacked on top of each other. These glass cloths 4 are slit and formed into a tape shape with a constant width. Further, both glass cloths 4 have a thickness approximately 1/2 that of the desired heat-insulating adhesive tape, and therefore the glass fiber yarns 23 constituting these
Thin fibers with a small number of fibers and a small fiber diameter are used. The glass fiber yarns 2.3 are therefore more flexible and have less straightening force than conventional ones.
