The workpiece and the wire electrode are then penetrated into a processing bath, and in this state, a DC voltage is applied between the workpiece and the wire electrode. For example, when the wire electrode is brought close to the workpiece and the gap amount reaches a predetermined amount, the wire 71! Pulse discharge occurs between ti and the workpiece. However, the workpiece is machined by the energy generated by this pulsed discharge.

In addition, in method (2), the frequency band of the oscilloscope is slower than the discharge, and the discharge voltage and discharge current cannot be displayed in real time. Furthermore, since the occurrence of discharge is random and the discharge voltage and discharge current are not maintained,
The waveforms of the discharge voltage and discharge current displayed on an oscilloscope are difficult to understand, and it is difficult to make quantitative judgments from the waveforms. In method (2), the pass/fail standard is set by each manufacturer, for example, and the t of all discharge states is
! It cannot be applied to I-cuts.

となる。Furthermore, in the method (■), each manufacturer takes measures to avoid abnormalities and prevents various wire breaks, but because of this, it is not possible to achieve the highest efficiency of machining, and the efficiency is always maintained at, for example, 60 to 70%. This results in a lack of accuracy in detecting the machining status. Therefore, even if an abnormal discharge is detected, the (r', '1lfj characteristics) of detecting this abnormal discharge will be low. However, the discharge state must be monitored and the conditions for discharge possible, such as the moving speed of the wire electrode, etc. 11 Even if feedback is given to the flow rate of the working fluid, etc., it is difficult to appropriately control electrical discharge machining.

Here, the abnormal discharge is an arc discharge pulse and a short circuit, and the transient discharge occurs when a considerable amount of machining debris is present between the workpiece 2 and the wire electrode 3. A normal discharge occurs when there are no machining debris between the workpiece 2 and the wire electrode 3.

In addition to calculating surface roughness, it also has a discharge gap image function that graphically displays the state of discharge energy between the workpiece 2 and the wire electrode 3, as well as functions such as wire breakage prediction judgment and machining condition instructions. It is something that you have. Specifically, a histogram creation means 16-6 and an analysis calculation means 16-7 are provided. The histogram creation means 16-6 has a function of creating histograms of the discharge voltage, discharge current, discharge energy, etc. of each discharge in the discharge data, and obtains the I&frequency value from the histogram of the discharge energy, for example, and performs analytical calculation. The means 16-7 has a function of calculating the efficiency, stability, surface roughness, etc. of electrical discharge machining from the mode value obtained from the above-mentioned electrical discharge data and each histogram.

The PU 16 determines current peaks and voltage peaks from each digital voltage detection signal and digital current signal stored in the RAM 18. Next, the CPU 16 determines whether the current peak value is at least a predetermined percentage, for example 40%, of the current range of the measurement range, for example 0-1000A. Here, if the current peak value is 150 A as shown in Fig. 6, this current peak value is 40
% or less, the CPU 16 lowers the measurement range by one range and changes the current range from 0 to 400A as shown in Figure 7.
The CPU 16 again determines that the current peak value is 4 for the current range O to 400 A of the measurement range.
Determine whether it is 0% or more. In this case as well, the current peak value is 40% or less for the current range 0 to 400 A, so the CPU 16 further lowers the measurement range by one range and changes it to the fi current range 0 to 200 A measurement range as shown in Figure 8. do. Thus, the current peak value is within the current range O
This is 40% or more compared to ~20OA, and the measurement range of the current range is set to 0~20OA. Next, the CPU 16 sets the 1P1 constant relay range for the voltage in the same way as it sets the measurement range for the current range.

−1 and cn are extracted to create a histogram of discharge voltage shown in FIG. 1O. The histogram created in this way has two histogram groups Q1. Q2 appears. Here, the histogram group Ql is the workpiece 2 and the wire electrode 3.
The area between the workpiece 2 and This is due to variations in the discharge resistance value due to slight residual machining debris between the wire electrode 3 and changes in the gap amount between the workpiece 2 and the wire electrode 3 due to vibrations of the wire electrode 3 and the like. On the other hand, histogram group Q2 shows a transient state in which a considerable amount of machining debris remains between the workpiece 2 and the wire electrode 3, and this machining debris reduces the resistance value between the gaps, causing discharge even when the discharge voltage is low. This shows a typical discharge. However, the discharge classification means 16-3 classifies histogram group Q1 as normal discharge and classifies histogram group Q2 as transient discharge.

In other words, for example, when there is no machining waste, the wave phase 1' and the workpiece 2 are too close to each other. The wire electrode 3 is too close to each other. This is because the resistance value between the workpiece 2 and the wire electrode 3 becomes small, causing the above-mentioned abnormal discharge and transient discharge. The calculation means 16-7 sends the stable sentence Se to the table 711 drive unit 20 and displays the bar = - on the display device 2'4. It is divided into three degrees: rate, good, and 6 low 5i' (dangerous).

That is, the machining energy range De is calculated from De-Ff(Xs)-(5). Here, Xs is the ratio of the number of abnormal discharges to the total number of discharges. However, as shown in FIG. 12, the range designation frame K indicating the machining energy range moves in the horizontal direction on the drawing in accordance with the magnitude of the machining energy. Note that this machining energy range De expresses machining stability as a machining energy range, since the balance between machining energy and the gap affects the discharge status of machining waste. The larger the amount of processing waste, the narrower De becomes, and the smaller the amount, the wider De becomes.

As a result of this comparison, for example, if the discharge energy f3 is larger than the discharge energy threshold value, it is determined that there is a high risk of disconnection of the wire electrode 3 (i11), and this fact is displayed on the display device 22. This contact rate A represents the degree of contact of the wire electrode 3 with the workpiece 2. This contact rate A is compared with the contact rate threshold rate, and if the contact rate A is larger than the contact rate threshold rate, then the contact rate A is larger than the contact rate threshold rate. It is determined that there is a high risk of wire breakage occurring in the wire electrode 3, and this fact is displayed on the display device 22 as shown in FIG.

In such a case, the discharge voltage does not appear, and the CPU 16 starts the internal timer operation from this time. Then, when the discharge mW pressure appears again, the CPU 16
stops the operation of the internal timer, calculates the non-discharge period G from the count value, and sends it to the printer drive section 21. As a result, the non-discharge period G is printed out as a no-signal time, for example, 80 seconds. Note that the internal timer operates even when the discharge voltage does not appear due to replacement of the workpiece 2, and counts the time, and the period required for the replacement at this time is printed out.
