【発明の詳細な説明】
〔産業上の利用分野〕
本発明は、プラスチツク相互を超音波により溶
接する方法に関するものである。

従来、プラスチツク相互を超音波溶接する場合
には、互に接合すべきプラスチツクの被溶接物を
重ねて作業台上に載せ、上方の被溶接物に超音波
振動子のホーンの先端を当て、加圧しながら超音
波振動を与え、相互接触部の溶接を行う。

われる、と考えられており、摩擦熱によりプラス

して接着せしめる。

ところが、溶融点が低い塩化ビニールなどを超
音波溶接する際に、小さなエネルギでも溶融し易
く、さらに炭化し易く、変色を生じたりするトラ
ブルを生じ、特に比較的薄い板やシートを重ね合
わせる場合などには、良好な仕上がり状態で溶接
と行うのに、ホーンの振幅の選定や施行時間の選
定が容易ではなかつた。

ブルを生じ、特に比較的薄い板やシートを重ね合
わせる場合などには、良好な仕上がり状態で溶接

特に、溶融点が異なるプラスチツクを相互に溶
接する場合には、溶融点の高い方のプラスチツク
に合うように大きな振幅を与えたり、施行時間を
長くすると、融点の低いプラスチツクが接合面付
近で炭化をして流れ出したりして接合が良好とな
らず、変色により商品価値を損ね、特に透明なシ
ートを接合するときなど変色は致命的な欠陥とな
る、などの問題点があつた。

本発明は、従来の方法の上記の問題点を解決
し、溶融点の低いプラスチツクの溶接、あるいは
溶融点の差のあるプラスチツクの溶接においても
炭化、変色或いは溶融物の流出などが起こらず、
かつ、適当な施行条件の調節が容易なプラスチツ
クの超音波溶接方法を提供することを目的とする
ものである。

第1図に示す如く、台1上の容器2の中に水3
を入れ、その中に被溶接物であるプラスチツク材
4及び5を重ねて浸漬し、超音波振動子6のホー
ン7の先端を加圧しながら当接して超音波溶接を

脂、プラスチツク材5は厚さ0.5mmの塩化ビニー
ルである。ホーン7は直径20mmであり、加圧力約
60Kg/cm2において振幅50μmp.pにて超音波溶接を
行つた。

ずに溶接による接合が行われた。

このように水中で超音波溶接を行うと、溶接の
施行条件の範囲が広くなり、調節が容易となる。

本発明は、水中でプラスチツクの超音波溶接を
行うようにしたことにより、溶融点の低い材料で
も、溶融点が異なる材料相互でも、炭化、変色、
材料流出を生ずることなく溶接を行うことがで

易となり、実用上極めて大なる効果を奏する。

- 1 互に接合すべきプラスチツクの被溶接物を水
中に浸漬した状態で超音波溶接を行うことを特徴
