Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a transfer sheet capable of imparting a design having gloss and rich in a three-dimensional feeling, especially, a design large in one unit of an uneven pattern by successively providing a release layer, a gloss layer, a partial printing layer of heating foamable ink and an adhesive layer on transfer pasteboard. CONSTITUTION:A release layer 2, a gloss layer 3, a partial printing layer 4A of heating foamable ink and an adhesive layer 5 are successively provided on transfer pasteboard l. The gloss layer can be formed by the vapor deposition of a metal or the solid printing of ink containing bright pigment. The heating foamable ink used in the printing of a partial printing layer is prepared by adding an appropriate foaming agent to usual ink using an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, polyamide, polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane, an acrylic resin, styrene rubber, nitrile rubber, polyvinyl butyral or polyethylene as vehicle. A pattern printing layer 6 may be provided between the release layer 2 and the glossy layer 3.

Therefore, as a countermeasure for painting with a varying design, there is a method of making the glossy layer appear uneven by printing, and a method of giving unevenness to the surface of the transfer mount to make the transfer. The method of covering the surface with unevenness, or the setting of a hardened transparent ink layer on top or bottom of the glossy layer (
) and embed it in a glossy layer using pressure during transfer to give a three-dimensional effect.

With the second method, the surface becomes matte A7, and the purpose of providing a glossy layer is diminished. The third method can provide a beautiful appearance, but depending on the uneven pattern, the three-dimensional effect may be insufficient. This is because, in this manual processing, one unit of the pattern can only provide human-sized unevenness on the glossy layer.

The glossy layer can be formed by metal vapor deposition or solid printing with an ink containing a glittering pigment. The metals used for vapor deposition are 1, 6. +1. Commonly used materials such as Cr and Cu may be used. Examples of bright pigments are as follows. (a) Pearl pigments, specifically the inner parts of shells, crushed pearls, mica, and fine particles of mica have T! 02 or baked with iron oxide,
(b) Metal powder, specifically fine particles of copper, aluminum, brass, bronze, gold, silver, etc., preferably 1 to 120μ in size; (c) Pieces of vapor-deposited plastic film, such as boliethylene terephthalate triilium. Metals like nihen, usually aluminum, are vapor-deposited and crushed (silver powder), and metals that are vapor-deposited and then coated with transparent yellow paint are crushed (golden powder).
