However, when such a conventional stud-type diode is used, for example, as a snubber of a gate turn-off thyristor, 1) the cathode bar 13 has a long length and a small diameter, resulting in a large inductance. Also, 2) cathode rod 13
If there is a ferrous material such as a disc spring 15 around the
During energization, the disc spring 15 increases the inductance. Problems such as this occur. As a result, the spike voltage at turn-off increases,
This had the disadvantage of reducing the controllable current of the gate turn-off thyristor.

Next, while compressing the disc spring 5 from above using a pressure device (not shown), the upper part of the case 1 - 2 of the base 1 is squeezed toward the center. This is exactly the same as the conventional assembly method. Next, the cap 6 is placed over the cathode block 3 and the base 1, and the flange 6-3 of the cap 6 and the weld ring 3-2 of the cathode block 3 are connected.
The flange 6-3 of the cap 6 and the welding ring 1-3 of the case 1-2 are brought into close contact with each other and fixed by welding. Thereby, the diode element 2 is sealed by the base 1, cap 6, and cathode block 3.

The one with a diameter of 80 mm is 25 mm with the one of the present invention.
Further, the minimum dimension of the cathode bar 13 was conventionally 10 mm, but in the cathode block 3 of the present invention, it is 20 mm. This is because in the conventional structure, the cathode rod 13 and the lead 17 are connected by the cap 16.
The height is increased due to structural and dimensional constraints (the height is large and the diameter of the cathode rod is small, and the cap 16 and stud 11 form a sealed container). In contrast, in the present invention, the restrictions of the conventional structure are removed, and the lead 17
Since the connection with the cathode block 3 can be made using the threaded portions 3a and 3b of the cathode block 3, the size (diameter) of the lead can be increased. Further, since the cathode block 3 is also structured to constitute a sealed container, the height dimension can be reduced and the diameter can be increased.

る。 Therefore, when the diode of the present invention is used as a snubber for a gate turn-off thyristor, the inductance of the diode itself becomes smaller, and the spike voltage at turn-off becomes smaller, so the controllable current of the thyristor can be increased. . In addition, each base 1, cathode block 3
Since the is provided with a threaded portion, it is possible to use a thick lead for connection to an external circuit, and the inductance in the circuit is also reduced.

As described above, according to the flat base type semiconductor device of the present invention, the shape of the upper electrode constituting the sealed container for sealing the semiconductor element is made into a block shape, and the pressure member around the upper electrode is made of a non-magnetic material. Since the height dimension of the exterior electrode is short and the diameter can be made large, the device itself has the effect of reducing the inductance of the circuit.
