このボスを加熱・溶融してその先端部に膨出頭部を形成
させることにより二つの部材を結合する方法に於いて、
溶融ボスがボスと孔との隙間に流入しないようにボスを
かしめる方法とその装置を提供する。 【構成】 ボスを孔に挿通させた後このボスの外径を拡
大成形させて貫通孔の縁部に当接させた後その先端部を
かしめて膨出頭部を成形させて二つの部品を結合させ
る。また、その装置は、かしめチップ1の先端中央部に
突設されて先端面より突出されボスに押圧圧入されてこ
のボスの先端側外径を拡大化できる突起部を有すかしめ
チップ1を備えていることを特徴とする。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、熱可塑性プラスチック
部材の表面に突設されるボスを利用してこれに対応する
貫通孔を有す金属、プラスチックス等からなる部材にか
しめるプラスチック部材のかしめ方法及びその装置に関
するものである.
【0002】
【従来の技術】熱可塑性プラスチック部材の表面に複数
個のボスを突設してこのボスを他部材に設けられた貫通
孔に挿通して反対側に突出させ、このボスを加熱溶融し
てリベット状の頭部に成形することによりプラスチック
部材を他部材にかしめる方法は従来から知られている
が、従来のこの種の方法としては実公平5−18131
号公報に示される回転するチップをボス部に押圧して溶
融しかしめる摩擦溶着かしめ法や特公昭54−4027
0号公報、特公昭50−27502号公報に示される熱
風でボス部を軟化させた後ポンチをボスに押圧してかし
める熱風かしめ法や特公昭54−20546号公報の従
来技術の中に示される超音波振動端子(ホ−ン)をボス
に押圧して溶融しかしめる超音波かしめ法や特開昭57
−195616号公報に示される加熱されたチップをボ
ス部に押圧して溶融しかしめる熱かしめ法が公用されて
いる.
【0003】ところで、前述従来方法でかしめられるボ
スの外径寸法とボスが挿通される貫通孔の内径寸法との
関係は、一般的にボス外径より貫通孔内径のほうが0.
5〜2.0ミリメ−トル大きくされている.この理由は
複数個あるボスのピッチまたは貫通孔のピッチ等の成形
精度が前述数値程度ばらついても複数個のボスがこのボ
スに対応する複数個の貫通孔に挿通できるようにするた
めである.
【0004】また、部材の重ね合わせ方は図5のように
部材12のボス18が突設される面と部材10の表面とを直接
当接させる場合もあれば、あるいはまた図6のように部
材12のボス18が突設される面に突設されるリブ20の先端
に部材10の表面を当接させる場合もある.
【0005】このように構成されるボスを前述従来技術
でその頭部を溶融させてかしめ、所定形状に膨出部を成
形させる際、図5においては図5−(b)に示すように
ボス18の溶融した一部19はボス18と貫通孔11との間に形
成される隙間に流入する.また、図6においては図6−
(b)に示すようにボス18の溶融した一部19はボス18と
貫通孔11との間に形成される隙間に流入し、さらには部
材12と部材10との隙間に流出する場合がある.
【0006】そこで、実際の生産の場では図5または図
6のように部材10の反対面からのボス18の突出長さは必
要膨出部体積すなわちかしめチップ15の先端に穿設され
た溝16の容積に相当する長さに前述流出分に相当する長
さが加算された長さとされている.
【0007】このように構成された二つの部材におい
て、先端中央部にリング状溝部16が穿設されたかしめチ
ップ15をボス18に押圧してかしめると図5−(b)また
は図6−(b)のようにかしめチップ15に形成される溝
部16の容積を超過する分のボス材料はボス18と貫通孔11
との間に形成される隙間に流入するほか、かしめチップ
15の外にはみ出して固化される.

【解決しようとする課題】しかしながら、このはみ出し
たボス材料や前記隙間に流入したボス材料は二つの部材
の連結機構には全く寄与していないので全く無駄な材料
であり、この無駄な材料を溶融させるためのエネルギ−
やそのために費やす時間が全く無駄に使われているとい
う問題がある.
【0009】本発明は、上述従来の問題点を解決するこ
とを課題としてなされたもので、ボス材料を有効に利用
し、ボスを高速でかしめる方法とその装置を提供するこ
とを目的とする.
【0010】
【課題を解決するための手段】本発明のプラスチック部
材のかしめ方法は、熱可塑性プラスチック部材に突設さ
れるボスを他部材に貫設された孔に挿通して反対側に突
出させ、このボスを加熱・溶融してその先端部に膨出頭
部を形成させることにより二つの部材を結合する方法に
於いて、前記ボスを前記孔に挿通させた後このボスの外
径を拡大成形した後その先端部に膨出頭部を成形させて
二つの部品を結合することを特徴とする.
【0011】また、その装置は、かしめチップを前記ボ
スに押圧して加熱・溶融しその先端部に膨出頭部を成形
させることにより二つの部材を結合する装置において、
前記かしめチップの先端中央部に突設されて先端面より
突出され前記ボスに押圧圧入されてこのボスの先端側外
径を拡大化できる突起部を有すかしめチップを備えてい
ることを特徴とする

【作用】上記のように構成したプラスチック部材のかし
め方法とその装置においては、熱可塑性プラスチック部
材に突設されるボスを他部材に貫設された孔に挿通して
反対側に突出させた後、このボスの先端側外径を拡大成
形させれば該ボス外周面が前記孔の縁端に近接する.こ
の後、ボス先端部を溶融して先端部に膨出頭部を形成さ
せ得る溝を有するかしめチップをボス先端部に押圧する
と前記溝と前記他部材の表面とで閉成される空隙部に膨
出頭部が成形される.

【実施例】以下に本発明に係わるプラスチック部材のか
しめ方法とその装置について望ましい実施例を図面に従
って説明する.

【実施例1】図1は本発明に係わるプラスチック部材の
かしめ方法の概念とその装置の一例によるかしめ工程の
工程図である.上下動自在のかしめチップ1は加熱され
た芯棒2とこの芯棒2の外周面に密着して装着されて加
熱された外筒3とから成り、芯棒2は外筒3に対して軸
方向にスライドできるようにされ、その先端には先端面
が外筒3の先端面より適宜突出され外径寸法が外筒3の
先端面と同一平面上に至る迄円錐状に漸増されて最大外
径寸法Dとされ、このD寸法が中空ボス13の内径寸法よ
り適宜大きくされる突部4が形成されている.また、こ
の突部4の周囲には半円状の溝5が芯棒2と外筒3に穿
設されて周設されている.
【0015】以上の構成において、その作用を図1に基
ずいて説明する.図1−(a)に示すように、部材10の
貫通孔11に部材12の中空ボス13を挿通して部材12と部材
10の表面を当接させた後、かしめチップ1の軸芯を前記
ボス13の軸芯と整合させる.
【0016】次に、図1−(b)に示すように芯棒2を
下降させて中空ボス13の中空部に押圧圧入させると中空
ボス先端部が加熱されて軟化し、芯棒2の下降に従って
突部4の円錐面により中空ボス13の先端部が拡大成形さ
れ、芯棒2が所定位置まで下降する間に中空ボス13の外
径中央部が貫通孔11の縁端に当接される.
【0017】続いて、図1−(c)に示すように外筒3
を下降させて芯棒2の外周面からオ−バ−ハングした中
空ボス13の先端部に外筒3に穿設された溝5の底面部を
当接させて押圧すると溝5と部材10の表面とで閉成され
てできる空隙部形状に膨出部が成形される.この後、膨
出部を適宜冷却させた後かしめチップ1を上昇させて次
のかしめに備える.

【実施例2】図2は本発明に係わるかしめ装置の第2実
施例を示したものである.なお、上記第1実施例の説明
で用いた第1図に示した部分と同一部分には同一符号を
付し、ここでは重複する説明を省略する.
【0019】図2において、かしめチップ1は実施例1
の芯棒2と外筒3とが一体化されたものであり、そのほ
かの構成は実施例1と全く同様である.
【0020】以上の構成において、その作用は実施例1
と同様であり、図2−(a)に示すように、図示しない
熱風発生装置の熱風により予め中空ボス13を軟化させた
後実施例1と同様にかしめチップ1と中空ボス13との軸
芯を整合させてかしめチップ1を下降させると、図2−
(b)に示すように突部4がボス13の中空部に進入して
突部4の円錐表面が中空ボス13の中空部内部に進入して
実施例1と同様に中空ボス13の先端部が拡大成形され中
空ボス13の外径中央部が貫通孔11の縁端に当接される一
方拡大されたボス13の先端部は溝5内に収容され、かし
めチップ1の先端が部材10の表面に当接すると溝5と部
材10の表面とで閉成される空隙部にフィルアップして膨
出部が成形される.この後、適宜冷却してかしめチップ
1を上昇させると図2−(c)に示すように2部材が結
合される.
【0021】なお、超音波溶着法によりボスに超音波振
動を与えて溶融させる超音波ホ−ンの先端を本実施例の
かしめチップ形状と同様にして上記同様に突部4を中空
ボス13の先端部に押圧して超音波ホ−ン先端部を超音波
振動させても、中空ボス13の先端部から溶融、軟化して
ボス13の外径が漸次拡大されて前述実施例同様ボス13の
外径中央部が貫通孔11の縁端に当接された後、溝5の形
状に成形された膨出部が形成される.この際は、超音波
発振器が必要に成るが熱風発生装置は不要になる.
【0022】また、第2実施例のかしめチップ1を加熱
したものや、あるいはまた、超音波ホ−ン先端を第2実
施例同様の形状にしたものは、図3−(a)のように中
実ボス14にも適用できる.この際は、突部4の先端をボ
ス14の先端に押圧するとボス14先端部が軟化、溶融しこ
のうちの一部が円錐面沿いに排出されて溝5内に収容さ
れながらボス14の外径が漸次拡大されて前述実施例同様
ボス14の外径中央部が貫通孔11の縁端に当接された後溝
5の形状の膨出部が成形される.なお、中実ボスを超音
波ホ−ンでかしめる場合は図3−(b)のように先端を
尖らすと速くかしめることができる.
【0023】また、図4のように突部4の形状は最大外
径部Dから階段上にその外径を漸減させても超音波かし
め時間を速くできる.

【発明の効果】以上説明した如く、本発明に係わるプラ
スチック部材のかしめ方法及びその装置によれば、かし
めチップの先端中央部に先端面より突出される錐状の突
部を形成させたので、例えば、先端が開口される中空ボ
スの先端からかしめチップの錐状の突部を押圧圧入させ
ると、このボスの外径が錐状に拡大化されて貫通孔の上
縁部にボスの外周面中央部が当接される.このため、こ
の後前記ボスの先端部を溶融させてかしめても溶融ボス
材料がボスと貫通孔との隙間に流入することなく膨出頭
部が成形され二つの部品が結合される.
【0025】以上のように、溶融ボス材料は全て膨出頭
部の形成に使用されるのでボス長さを短くできる.従っ
て、膨出頭部に相当するボス長さだけかしめればよいの
で、かしめ時間を極めて短くできるという実用的に優れ
た効果を奏する.

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 熱可塑性プラスチック部材に突設される
    ボスを他部材に貫設された孔に挿通して反対側に突出さ
    せ、このボスを加熱・溶融してその先端部に膨出頭部を
    成形させることにより二つの部材を結合する方法に於い
    て、前記ボスを前記孔に挿通させた後このボスの外径を
    拡大成形してその外周を前記孔の縁端に当接させた後そ
    の先端部を加熱軟化させて膨出頭部を成形させて二つの
    部品を結合することを特徴とするプラスチック部材のか
    しめ方法
  2. 【請求項2】 熱可塑性プラスチック部材に突設される
    ボスを他部材に貫設された孔に挿通して反対側に突出さ
    せ、かしめチップを前記ボスに押圧して加熱・溶融しそ
    の先端部に膨出頭部を成形させることにより二つの部材
    を結合する装置において、前記かしめチップの先端中央
    部に突設されて先端面より突出され前記ボスに押圧圧入
    されてこのボスの先端側外径を拡大化できる突起部を有
    すかしめチップを備えていることを特徴とするプラスチ
    ック部材かしめ装置
