Abstract
電気融着継手において、安定した通電制御の可能な電気
融着継手を提供する。 【構成】 通電制御用センサー5が設けられた電気融着
継手1において、融着時に溶融しない継手開口端部の内
周面上にあって、かつ前記センサー5が設けられた円周
上の位置を含む継手軸方向に平行な線の近傍に、一個以
上の突起3を設けたことを特徴とする電気融着継手な
ど。
Description
ガス管などを接合するための電気融着継手に関する。
継手本体の内周部に配設された電熱線に通電することに
より、継手本体の内周部と継手に挿入された熱可塑性樹
脂管の外周部を融着して、樹脂管同士の接合を図るもの
である。
は、それに大きな影響を及ぼす電熱線への通電条件を的
確に制御する必要がある。そのため、例えば温度センサ
ーを用いて通電時間を制御する方法や、特公昭63ー2
4820号公報に開示されている、継手内に樹脂の熱膨
張を検出するための圧力センサーを埋設して通電時間を
制御する方法などがすでに実用化されている。
ようなセンサーを用いて通電制御を行っても、以下に述
べるように、必ずしも安定して良好な融着性能が確保で
きるわけではない。すなわち、継手内径は接合すべき樹
脂管の外径より大きいため、継手と樹脂管の間には隙間
が生じるが、継手と樹脂管それぞれに寸法公差があった
り、樹脂管を酸化被膜などを除くために表面を削って継
手に挿入するため、常に決められた位置での隙間量を一
定に保つことは難しい。したがって、チャンスごとに各
位置での隙間量が異なるので、通電条件も変わり、融着
不良が生じ易くなる。特に、センサー部では、隙間量が
変わると、検出すべき継手樹脂の特性変化の通電時間応
答性も変わり、隙間量が小さ過ぎると、樹脂管側への伝
熱量が大きくなって、継手樹脂の特性変化が小さくなり
過ぎるため、また、隙間量が大き過ぎると、継手樹脂の
特性変化が急激に起こるため、通電時間の安定した制御
が困難になる。

センサーが設けられた電気融着継手において、融着時に
溶融しない継手開口端部の内周面上であって、かつ前記
センサーが設けられた円周上の位置を含む継手軸方向に
平行な線の近傍に、一個以上の突起を設けた電気融着継
手により解決される。
周面上であって、かつ前記センサーが設けられた円周上
の位置を含む継手軸方向に平行な線の近傍にも、前記突
起とほぼ同じ高さの突起を一個以上設けた電気融着継手
を用いると、さらに安定した通電制御が可能になる。
あって、かつセンサーが設けられた円周上の位置を含む
継手軸方向に平行な線の近傍に、一個以上のある高さの
突起を設けることにより、センサー部における継手と樹
脂管の隙間量を常に一定にすることができるため、通電
時間を安定的に制御できる。さらに、融着時に溶融しな
い継手中央部の内周面上であって、かつセンサーが設け
られた円周上の位置を含む継手軸方向に平行な線の近傍
にも、開口端部側に設けた突起とほぼ同じ高さの突起を
一個以上設けると、開口端部と中央部の両方で樹脂管を
支持できるので、より確実にセンサー部における継手と
樹脂管の隙間量を一定にできる。なお、ここで前記「突
起を線の近傍に設ける」とは、継手と樹脂管それぞれに
寸法公差があったり、樹脂管を酸化被膜などを除くため
に表面を削って継手に挿入するときに生じるセンサー部
における継手と樹脂管の隙間量の変動が、実質上、融着
時に問題の起こらない程度まで小さくできるような位置
に突起を設けることを意味する。また、継手中央部の突
起の高さを、開口端部側の突起と「ほぼ同じ高さ」とし
たのは、両者の突起高さに若干の差があっても、センサ
ー部における継手と樹脂管の隙間量が、融着時に問題の
起こるほど大きく変動することがないような突起高さで
あればよいからである。突起を、融着時に溶融しない継
手開口端部や継手中央部に設けるのは、溶融部では、突
起を設けた継手の場所が溶融したり、突起自体が溶融し
たりして、継手と樹脂管の隙間量を一定にすることがで
きないためである。
継手と樹脂管の隙間量は、継手の口径、構造や用いるセ
ンサーの感度あるいは通電量などによって、その最適値
が異なるので、各々の場合に応じた最適値を事前に決め
ておく必要がある。

と樹脂管2の隙間量は、ほぼ突起3の高さに等しくな
る。それゆえ、継手本体1に樹脂管2を挿入するときの
隙間量の変動はほとんどなく、隙間量を常に一定に保つ
ことができる。また、通電ターミナル8を介して電熱線
7に電流を流し、継手本体1と樹脂管2を融着すると
き、突起3は溶融しない継手開口端部の内周面上に設け
られているので、融着時においても、センサー5の設け
られた部分の隙間量が変動することはない。したがっ
て、センサー5によって常に安定した通電制御が可能と
なる。

上に設けた突起3は、a、bに示すように、継手円周上
のセンサー配設用部位6(センサーの設けられた位置)
を含む継手軸方向に平行な線上に、一個設けられてもよ
いし、cに示すように、前記継手軸方向に平行な線を挟
むように、二個設けられてもよい。さらに突起数を増や
しても、センサーが設けられた部分の継手本体1と樹脂
管2の隙間量を常に一定に保つことができれば、特に問
題となることはない。また、突起3の形状も、aは半球
状、bは三日月状であるが、適切な隙間量が確保できれ
ば、くさび形などどんな形状のものでもかまわない。さ
らに、突起3は、隙間量を常に一定に保つことのできる
剛性を有するものであれば、必ずしも継手本体1と同じ
樹脂で作製される必要はなく、他の樹脂、金属、セラミ
ックス、木などいずれの素材で作製されたものでもよ
い。継手本体1と同じ樹脂からなる突起3を持った継手
は、一体成形で作製しても、突起部分を別途付着させて
作製してもよい。なお、表面状態や形状などが、継手本
体1へ樹脂管2が挿入し易いように考慮された突起3で
あることが、本実施例のような継手1に樹脂管2を挿入
して融着する差込み型継手には好ましい。

イプなどの継手にも、また樹脂管の外面に被せて融着す
るサドル型継手に対しても、本発明は適用できる。

定した通電制御の可能な電気融着継手を提供できる。し
たがって、本発明の電気融着継手を用いれば、融着不良
を大幅に低減可能となる。

- 【請求項1】 通電制御用センサーが設けられた電気融
着継手において、融着時に溶融しない継手開口端部の内
周面上であって、かつ前記センサーが設けられた円周上
の位置を含む継手軸方向に平行な線の近傍に、一個以上
の突起を設けたことを特徴とする電気融着継手。 - 【請求項2】 請求項1に記載の電気融着継手におい
て、融着時に溶融しない継手中央部の内周面上であっ
て、かつ通電制御用センサーが設けられた円周上の位置
を含む継手軸方向に平行な線の近傍に、請求項1に記載
の突起とほぼ同じ高さの突起を一個以上設けたことを特
徴とする電気融着継手。
