Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1. 再充電型電気化学電池であって、 内周面と底面とを有するコンテナ(12)と、 前記コンテナの内部に配置された再充電型亜鉛マイナス電極(14)と、 前記コンテナの内部に配置されたイオン導電水性電解質と、 前記コンテナの内部に配置され、少なくとも外周面と、底面と最上面とを有す る二酸化マンガン・プラス電極(18)と、 前記コンテナの内部において、前記プラス電極と前記マイナス電極との間に配 置されたセパレータ(16)と、 前記コンテナの最上部上に配置され、該コンテナ内部に配置された配合成分を 該コンテナの内部に密封する密封栓部材(22)と、 前記マイナス電極及び前記MnO2プラス電極に接触し、前記再充電型電気化 学電池に対しマイナス・ターミナルとプラス・ターミナルとを提供するターミナ ル手段(26、28)とから成り、 前記MnO2プラス電極の主要な活性成分は充電と放電のできる二酸化マンガ ンであり、低い放電率で得られる該MnO2電極の第一放電容量は本質的には該 MnO2電極の理論上の一電子放電容量であり、 前記水性電解質の主要成分は各アルカリ金属水酸化物の溶液と、H2SO4,H3 BO3,H3PO4及びこれらの混合物から成るグループから選択される酸と、Z nCl2,NH4Cl,NaCl,KCl及びこれらの混合物から成るグループか ら選択される塩の溶液と、から成るグループから選択され、 前記マイナス電極は再充電可能な電極であり、 電極バランス、即ち前記MnO2プラス電極の理論上の一電子放電容量に対す る前記亜鉛マイナス電極の理論上の放電容量の比は、約60%から約120%ま での範囲内であり、 前記プラス電極が、該プラス電極の少なくとも外周面における前記コンテナの 前記内周面に対する干渉と、該プラス電極の底部における該コンテナに対する干 渉と、更には、前記セパレータ及び/又は前記密封栓部材の内の一つに対する干 渉とにより、反復動作時に該プラス電極の寸法が示差的な変化をせぬように、拘 束されていることから成る再充電型電気化学電池(10)。 2. 前記MnO2電極の低い放電率で得られる第1放電容量は該MnO2電 極の約308mAh/gである、請求項1に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 3. 前記マイナス電極は亜鉛であり、前記電解質は1N〜15N水酸化カ リウムである、請求項1に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 4. 前記電解質にはこれに溶解した小量の酸化亜鉛が含まれている、請求 項3に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 5.前記セパレータは第一層と第二層から成り、該第一層はイオン透過性層であ り、該第二層は電解質吸収不織材と電解質吸収不織繊維強化材の内の一方である 、請求項1に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 6. 前記セパレータは積層状セパレータである、請求項1に記載の再充電 型電池化学電池。 7. 前記マイナス電極は、メタクリル酸カリウムと、ポリメタクリル酸と 、カーボキシメチル・セルロースと、澱粉類と、澱粉類誘導体とから成るグルー プから選択されるゲル化剤が混合された亜鉛パウダーから成り、 前記マイナス電極は任意的ではあるが更に、鉛と、カドミウムと、インジウム と、ガリウムと、ビスマスと、水銀とから成るグループから選択される小量の金 属腐食抑制剤から成り得、 前記マイナス電極は任意的ではあるが更に、有機腐食抑制剤から成り得る、請 求項4に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 8. 前記MnO2プラス電極は更に、重量比で5%〜15%の黒鉛と、重 量比で0.1%〜15%のカーボン・ブラックと、酸化バリウムと、水酸化バリ ウムと、硫酸バリウムとから成るグループから選択する3%〜25%のバリウム 化合物とから成るグループから選択される少なくとも一種の添加剤から成り、 前記MnO2電極は任意的ではあるが更に、銀と、銀の各酸化物と、銀の塩類 と、白金と、銀及び白金の各化合物とから成るグループから選択される0.01 %〜5%の水素再反応触媒から成ることがあり、 前記MnO2プラス電極は任意的ではあるが更に、PTFEと,ポリエチレン と、ポリプロピレンとから成るグループから選択される約0.1%〜約5%の湿 潤防止剤からなる、請求項4に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 9. 前記MnO2プラス電極は、任意であるが更に、アセチレン・ブラッ クと、疎水性が付与されたアセチレン・ブラックと、カーボン・ブラックと、疎 水性が付与されたカーボン・ブラックとから成るグループから選択される約0. 1%から約15%の多孔質添加剤からなり、 前記MnO2プラス電極は、PTFEと、ポリエチレンと、ポリプロピレンと 、ステアリン酸の金属塩類と、違った点で前記MnO2と、水性電解質の存在下 での亜鉛及びMnO2の電気化学反応とに好都合な高分子物質とから成るグルー プから選択される0.1%から5%の滑剤を更に任意に含み得る、請求項8に記 載の再充電型電池化学電池。 10. 前記MnO2プラス電極は、一般に約100ミクロンから約5セン チメートルまでの長さを有する繊維であり、炭素繊維と、黒鉛繊維と、ニッケル メッキされた炭素繊維と、銀メッキされた炭素繊維と、ニッケルメッキされた黒 鉛繊維と、銀メッキされた黒鉛と、ニッケルメッキされた銅繊維と、銀メッキさ れた銅繊維とから成るグループから選択される、重量で約0.1%から約5%の 繊維添加剤を更に任意に含み得る、請求項8に記載の再充電型電池化学電池。 11. 導電性カーボンを基材にしたコーティングが前記コンテナの内面に 塗布されており、 前記コーティングは黒鉛の水性分散液と酢酸ビニール共重合体とから成る、請 求項1に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 12. 前記亜鉛マイナス電極は円筒形で、再充電型電気化学電池の内部中 央に配し、前記MnO2プラス電極は内周面を有する環状電極で、少なくとも一 つの予備成形ペレットの形態で前記コンテナ内に存在しており、 前記プラス電極はその内周面の前記セパレータに対する干渉によってその寸法 の示差的変化が制限され得る、請求項4に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 13. 前記マイナス電極用の前記ターミナル手段は該マイナス電極内に延 在する単一の釘(20)に電気的に接続されている、請求項12に記載の再充電 型電気化学電池。 14. 前記電池は安全ベント(小孔)が形成された栓要素(22)によっ て密封されており、前記栓要素は、ポリプロピレンと、ポリプロピレンが充填さ れたタルクと、ポリエチレンと、ポリスルホンと、ナイロンとから成る各種の熱 可塑性物質のグループから選択される物質から形成される、請求項4に記載の再 充電型電気化学電池。 15. 前記セパレータはイオン透過性と、少なくともガス状の水素と酸素 に対するガス透過性とを有するが、亜鉛樹枝状結晶に対しては不透過性を示す複 合フレキシブル構造体である、請求項4に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 16. 前記セパレータは0.2ミクロン以下の孔径を有する微孔質セパレ ータである、請求項15に記載の再充電型電気化学電池。 17. 前記MnO2プラス電極は前記コンテナ内に直接的に押出されたス リープ形態で該コンテナ内に配置されている、請求項12に記載の再充電型電気 化学電池。
