Abstract
なる整形外科用注入成形包帯を除去するための鋸を提供
すること。 【解決手段】 石膏(ギプス)から作られた硬質の整形
外科用包帯を取り外すためのギプス包帯鋸をであり、こ
のギプス包帯鋸は、取り外し可能なフィルター状収集室
に再充電可能なバッテリーパックを備えた一体装置であ
る。シュラウド(囲い板)は、鋸刃の少なくとも一部を
カバーし、そしてそのようなシュラウドは、鋸刃が注入
成形材料を切断しながらその注入成形材料内で受けられ
ると、注入成形材料による障害から切断作業によって動
かされる。ダストチャンネルはハウジング内に形成さ
れ、そして切断作業によって発生したダストと屑は、ハ
ウジング内に収容されたモーターで回転するインペラー
でかけられた力によってそのチャンネルを吸引される。
鋸刃にかかる力の増加を感じモーターに比例してかけら
れる電流を増加してモーターに追加トルクを供給する感
圧スイッチが提供される。
Description
し、より詳しくは、硬質注型材料タイプの整形外科用包
帯を除去するための外科用ギプス包帯カッターに関する
ものである。
(ソー)は、これまでよく知られており、ある範囲の角
度で振動して石膏あるいは樹脂材料などの硬質注入成形
材料を切断する小さな丸いあるいは一部丸い鋸刃を備え
て形成されている。しかしその小さな角度の振動によっ
てギプス(注型)包帯を装着している患者の柔らかな組
織を損傷しないようにしている。これらの振動は、当業
界でよく知られている様々なタイプの機械的相互連結し
た適当なトランスミッション(伝達装置)によって駆動
されている。トランスミッションそれ自身は、通常、小
さなモーターによって駆動される。ギプス包帯を除去す
る工程では、切断によってかなりの量のダストと屑が発
生する。このダストと屑を取り除くために、鋸自身に従
来の吸引装置(電気掃除機)のホースを連結することが
知られている。そのような装置は、米国特許第2,929,17
7 号に示されている。ファンタイプのダストと屑の除去
装置の別の例が米国特許第3,103,069 号と、第3,481,03
6 号に示されている。

後部にあってその主要工具部に取り外し可能に固定され
た補助的なホース部を有する外科用ギプス包帯カッター
又は別の動力工具として記載されている。主要工具部の
低電圧モーターは、主要工具部の前方に取り付けられた
カッターを振動させるトランスミッションを駆動する。
工具部の屑配管は、工具部とホース部をつないだ時にそ
のホース部に形成された開口と連通する。ホース部は、
ホース部の開口と連通している柔軟な真空ホースを保有
しており、それによって、例えば、石膏のギプス包帯を
除去するためにカッターを作動している間に発生したダ
スト粒子の除去を容易にしている。しかしながら、この
装置は真空連結器がカッター自身から離れており、しか
も大きいため、嵩張りしかも使用が面倒である。

帯を除去するための鋸を提供する。モーターは鋸刃を作
動する回転軸を有している。鋸刃の作動は適当なトラン
スミッションにより行ない、所定の角度でまたモーター
の回転速度に対して所定の速度で鋸刃を振動させるよう
にすることができる。ブロワーは、モーターシャフトの
一端に取り付けられ、装置に空気の流れを起こす。その
空気の流れの向きは、鋸刃を取り巻く領域からフィルタ
ー材で部分的に区画された収集ゾーンあるいは収集室内
への方向である。フィルター材は空気を通すが空気に浮
遊して運ばれた屑を収集室内に捕集する。

る。すなわち、使用していないモーターは低速度で空転
するが、鋸刃に対する圧力が増すと電流が増大する。モ
ーターに対する電流の供給が増大するとトルクを増大さ
せ、しばしば困難な切断作業に対して十分な電力を供給
するため速度を上げる。しかしながら、従来技術では、
鋸刃に対する圧力がたとえ何であっても、その装置はモ
ーターに一定速度を維持しようとするだけである。これ
によって極端な力が刃にかかった場合、オーバーヒート
の状態を引き起こす。
注入成形材料と密閉シールを形成するシュラウド(囲い
板)を有している。このように小さなファンと収集室
は、従来技術の装置で使用された大きな従来の真空の必
要性もなく用いることができる。シュラウドはアコーデ
ィオン状の材料から作ることができ、シュラウドが注入
成形材料の外面との面接触を維持しながら、鋸が比較的
硬い注入成形材料内に入るような鋸の使用時に破壊す
る。切断作業で鋸が注入成形材料内に入り込む場合、鋸
はシュラウドから伸び、注入成形材料に入りシュラウド
がその接触を維持するようにしている。
説明する。図を参照すれば、ハウジング1を有するギプ
ス包帯鋸が図示されている(図1)。ハウジング1は、
回転用に搭載された刃2を収容している。刃2はモータ
ー3で駆動され、そのモーター3は21.6VDCの制
御電圧で0.12馬力である。前方軸4は、ハウジング
1の前方端側に伸び、動力をその前方軸4から刃2に伝
達するためのトランスミッション5に作動可能に取り付
けされている。
鋸を使用するために刃とファンを駆動するための電源で
ある。前方軸4(図2)には振動防止のために釣合重り
103が表面に設けられている。釣合重り103の前方
で且つ駆動軸4に連結されて偏心駆動軸受104が設け
られている。偏心駆動軸受104は、振動ボックスヨー
ク105内部で360°回転する。振動ボックスヨーク
105は、刃2の駆動軸4Aに連結されている。振動ボ
ックスヨーク105は10°内の円弧で動き、刃2の駆
動軸4Aを10°の円弧内で回す。振動ボックスヨーク
105と刃2の駆動軸4Aは、刃2を10°の円弧内で
動かす。刃2はこの動きを伝達するために刃2の駆動軸
4Aにキー止めされている。この取り付け機構は例え
ば、櫛形ロックレバー106とすることができる。
個の歯を有する長円形の鋸歯である。刃2は摩耗を減ら
す皮膜付きステンレス鋼から作られている。刃2の全体
的な形状は長円であり、鋸駆動軸に合うキー取り付け孔
がある。刃2の下部に1インチにつき18個の歯があ
る。刃2には3個のスルーホールが開いており、刃の質
量を減らすと共に、真空ダスト収集(集塵)中にギプス
包帯ダストが通るようになっている。
送する空気流を支配するダストチャンネル6を区画して
いる。後方軸7はモーター3から後方へ伸び、インペラ
ー又はファン8を軸に装着している。インペラー又はフ
ァン8は、装置稼動中に力を搬送空気に与える。モータ
ー3が前方軸4と後方軸7を回すと、この回転が刃2を
回転させると共にインペラー又はファン8も回転させ
る。これによってダストチャンネル6を通した空気流が
刃2からインペラーの方向に発生する。ダストチャンネ
ル6は収集室9に通じている。

る。ダストビン10は、ハウジング1によって区画され
たスペースに収容される装着部11(図4)を有する。
適当な装着ロック構造が提供されるが図示はしない。ダ
ストビン10はスロット付き後壁12を有する。そのス
ロット付き後壁12は、空気がファンとダストビン10
を通過した後、インペラー又はファン8からの空気の通
過を可能にする。ダストビン10には使い捨てフィルタ
ーバッグ13が収容されている。フィルターバッグ13
は紙などのフィルター材から作られひだが付けられ、大
きな表面積を与えてフィルターバッグ内に収集された屑
による目詰まりを減らす。使用後のダストビン10はハ
ウジング1から取り除かれ、また使い捨てフィルターバ
ッグ13も処分のためダストビン10から外される。次
に新しいきれいなフィルターバッグをダストビン10内
に配し、次の作業のためにきれいなフィルター材を付け
てダストビンを再び取り付ける。
パック14を同様に収容する。バッテリーパック14の
ハウジング部の構造は、ダストビン10の構造と同様で
あるが、後壁は、熱が逃げるため必要でないならば、溝
孔すなわちスロットを必ずしも付ける必要はない。バッ
テリーパック14は同様に取り外し可能であり、適当な
連結器を有する取り付け機構を設けてバッテリーパック
の末端とモーターの末端を連結する。バッテリーパック
は、適当に接続された18個のバッテリーユニットから
形成され21.6ボルトで電流が3.6アンペアを示
す。このバッテリーパック14はプラグ差し込みできる
適当な再充電連結器を設けることができ、再充電するた
めに再充電連結器を装着してもよい。またバッテリーパ
ック14を外して再充電のために再充電器内に配する
か、あるいはバッテリーパック14を外してそのバッテ
リーをそっくり新しいバッテリーに代えるようにしても
よい。
開口を有して直流ギプス包帯鋸からニッカド(NICA
D)バッテリーパックを受け入れるようにすることがで
きる。バッテリーを再充電のために充電開口内に配置す
る。再充電が14から45分で完了するようにバッテリ
ー充電器の大きさを決める。LEDが充電器の各々バッ
テリーパック位置の前に設けられている。このLEDは
辺りを照らして、バッテリーパックが充電サイクルを完
了して十分に充電されたことを示す。充電器は、ユニッ
トを電線で鋸から充電器に電気接続させるように直流コ
ンセントを備え、絶えず充電器/直流コンセントを稼動
させている。このように、バッテリーパックを取り付け
ないでもおそらくユニットは作動する。

な充電器も本発明に使用することができる。
材料から作られたシュラウド15が設けられている。そ
のシュラウドはシリコーンゴムから作られる。またこの
シュラウドは、図示したように刃の平面に平行な方向に
スライドするスライド部材から作られてもよい。このシ
ュラウドは鋸切断プロセスの開始時に注入成形材料面と
係合する。図からわかるように鋸が材料を切り、さらに
深く材料内に入れられると、シュラウドはギプス包帯の
表面との真近な接触を維持しながらアコーディオンのよ
うに折畳める。このようにインペラー又はファンの作動
によって空気が刃の周りから吸引されるが、シュラウド
は刃の周囲の殆どの領域を、シュラウドとギプス包帯な
らびに刃の切断動作によって形成されたスロット間の非
常に狭い間隙に空気を移動させながらシール密閉してい
る。このように屑を最も巻き込んだ領域(切断作業に近
い領域)は、刃から最も多量の空気が吸引され、あふれ
た分のダストと屑を大気に戻し、刃から大容量の空気を
吸引する必要性を減らして遠方から屑を空気に浮遊搬送
させる。

動作する。従って、内蔵感圧スイッチが直接モーターに
配線され必要時に圧力増大を知らせる。感圧スイッチ
は、刃に対して感じた力に比例するモーター電流の増大
を起こす。この利点は注入成形材料の靭性に依存してト
ルクを増大することができる。この結果、低速で圧力を
低くしてモーターを空運転を可能にするためバッテリー
再充電間の時間を長くすると共にモーターの寿命を増大
させる。

前記刃を作動する請求項2記載の鋸。 (9)前記感圧スイッチは、前記ハウジング内に取り付
けられ、前記刃にかけられた力の変化によって生じた前
記トランスミッションの動きに応答する上記実施態様
(8)記載の鋸。 (10)前記刃の一部を覆っている第一の場所と前記刃
の前記部分を露出している第二の場所の間で可動するシ

を通すことができるフィルター材で部分的に区画された
収集室内に前記空気を通す上記実施態様(14)記載の
鋸。 (16)前記収集室は、前記ハウジング内に少なくとも
部分的に取り外し可能に収容される上記実施態様(1
5)記載の鋸。 (17)前記ハウジング内に取り外し可能に収容された
再充電可能なバッテリーをさらに有する請求項2記載の
鋸。 (18)前記バッテリーパックは、前記ハウジング内に
収容されている請求項3記載の鋸。 (19)前記バッテリーパックは、ユーザーに取り付け
可能であり、前記モーターに電気的に接続される上記実

- 【請求項1】 整形外科用注入成形包帯を除去する用の
鋸であって、 a)ハウジングと、 b)回転軸を有する前記ハウジング内のモーターと、 c)前記回転軸によって動作する鋸刃と、 d)鋸切断中に発生した屑を収集するための収集容積に
前記鋸刃周囲の空気流を吸引する前記ハウジング内のブ
ロワーと、 e)表面とのシールを形成してダスト収集を向上するシ
ュラウドを有する鋸。 - 【請求項2】 整形外科用包帯を除去する用の鋸であっ
て、 a)ハウジングと、 b)前記ハウジング内に収容され、前記整形外科用包帯
を切断する刃に連動したモーターと、 c)前記鋸刃と前記モーターの間で連動し前記鋸刃にか
けられた力の増大に応じて前記モーター供給される電流
を増加する感圧スイッチを有する鋸。 - 【請求項3】 整形外科用包帯を除去する用のギプス包
帯鋸であって、 a)ハウジングと、 b)鋸刃を動作するために前記ハウジング内に取り付け
られたモーターと、 c)力を前記モーターから前記ハウジングに作動取り付
された刃に伝えるトランスミッションと、 d)前記モーターに電気を供給するための再充電可能な
バッテリーパックと、 e)前記刃から収集室にわたる前記ハウジングによって
区画された屑の通路を有し、 f)前記収集室が前記ハウジング内に取り外し可能に収
容されているギプス包帯鋸。
