Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.データ処理装置(102)と;該データ処理装置に結合して、ユーザーが該デー タ処理装置にデータを投入することを可能にさせるように動作する入力デバイス (104)と;を有して成るデータ処理システム(100,200)であって、 上記入力デバイスは、支持構造(106)と;データを投入するために、1つの 軸の周りを上記支持構造に対して回転ができるようにしてある部分(108)と;を 含み、また 上記部分(108)及び上記支持構造(106)は、相互に対して移動ができるように してあるデータ処理システム(100,200)において、 上記入力デバイスはデータ生成手段(114,206)を含み、該データ生成手段は 、3つ又はそれ以上の異なる状態があるものとする上記移動にそれぞれ応答して 、更に別のデータを生成するように動作することを特徴とするデータ処理システ ム。 2.請求項1に記載のデータ処理システムにおいて、上記入力デバイスは、上記 データ処理装置の制御の下に上記回転ができるようにしてある部分を駆動するた めの、触覚フィードバック手段(210,212,116,120)を更に含むことを特徴とする データ処理システム。 3.請求項2に記載のデータ処理システムにおいて、上記触覚フィードバック手 段は、上記回転ができるようにしてある部分の回転に影響を与える第1駆動手段 (116)か;又は、上記回転ができるようにしてある部分と上記支持構造との相互 に対する移動に影響を与える第2駆動手段(120)か;を少なくとも含むことを特 徴とするデータ処理システム。 4.請求項2又は3に記載のデータ処理システムにおいて、上記入力デバイスは 、ユーザーによって上記回転ができるようにしてある部分に加えられる力を感知 する力センサー(122)を含むことを特徴とするデータ処理システム。 5.請求項2又は3に記載のデータ処理システムにおいて、上記触覚フィードバ ック手段はユーザーによるプログラム可能であることを特徴とするデータ処理シ ステム。 6.請求項1ないし4のうちのいずれか1項の記載により特定される入力デバイ ス。 7.請求項2ないし4のうちのいずれか1項に記載のデータ処理システムと、触 覚的に相互に影響し合うことを、ユーザーに可能とさせる方法において、 該方法は、多重ウィンドウ・ソフトウェア・アプリケーションを上記データ 処理システム上で走らせることを可能とすること;及び、上記入力デバイスによ って上記移動の方向に働く抵抗力であり且つ順次重なっているウィンドウ間の移 転をするときユーサーが打ち勝とうとする抵抗力を、ユーザーに経験させること を可能とすること;を含むことを特徴とする方法。
