Abstract

PURPOSE: The title superfine filament yarn of fineness per filament ≤0.9 denier, capable of being false twisted at a high twist coefficient, having a given degree of orientation in the amorphous region, a structural integrity parameter, improved heat-setting and raising properties, twist resistance, and dimensional stability.
CONSTITUTION: A crystalline polyester multifilament yarn consisting of filaments having a fineness per filament ≤0.9 denier, preferably 0.1W0.6 denier, a degree of orientation (fa) in the amorphous region of 30W70%, preferably 40W65%, wherein the structural integnity parameter (ε0.2) is a negative value, preferably 0>ε0.2≥-0.025. A polyester is melt spun at a spinning draft of 200W700 and a speed of 3,000W5,000 m/min, heat-treated at a temperature ranging from 100°C to the melting point for about 0.01W0.05 sec at an overfeed ratio of zero or a stretch ratio of 20% or less to give the desired yarn having a fineness per filament of 0.9 denier or less.
