Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the desulfurization yield of CaC2 by mixing a CaC2 type desulfurizing agent with a mixt. of dust from a CaC2 producing electric furnace, carbon and a Mg cpd. as a desulfurization accelerator. CONSTITUTION:40-80 wt% of finely divided CaC2 is mixed with 60-20wt% of a mixt. of dust from a CaC2 producing electric furnace, carbon and a Mg cpd. as a desulfurization accelerator. The dust is fine powder collected from a CaC2 producing process and a mixt. of CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, coke breeze, etc. The carbon powder is finely divided coke, coal, graphite, etc. of 210mu or below, and the Mg cpd. is finely divided MgCO3, MgO, etc. The mixing ratio of the dust:carbon:Mg cpd. is 90-30%:5-35%:5-35%. When hot iron is subjected to top blowing desulfurization in a torpedo car with the resulting desulfurizing agent, the desulfurization efficiency of the CaC2 is increased and hence the dusulfurization yield is enhanced.
