Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of freezing operation by carrying out adequate defrosting operation according to the rate of frosting, and eliminating frequent defrosting operaton.
CONSTITUTION: Detected signals at a lst temperature detector 11 provided in a coil secton 3 at outdoor side which acts as an evaporator at heating and a 2nd temperature detector 12 detecting the temperature of the air are inputted to a memory circuit 15 so as to memorize the temperature difference therebetween at a fixed time interval. Then, a temperature difference δ T1 at the present measurement is compared to a temperature difference δ T2 memorized just before he present measurement. If the ratio of δ T1 to δ T2 exceeds a fixed value, or if a time limit-establishing circuit 17 which gives a long period time limit at a high temperature region and a short period one at a low temperature region delivers an output, receiving an detected signal from the 2nd temperature detector, a defrosting instructor 13 is actuated. Thus, defrosting operation always starts at a fixed amount of frost, and the efficiency of freezing operaton is improved
