CONSTITUTION: Compounds of formula I: (A is phenozyphenyl, benzoylphenyl, halobiphenylyl, haloanilinophenyl, lower alkoxynaphthyl, lower alkylindanyl, 1-9xo -2-isoindolinyl phenyl, or alkylhalophenyl group; R1 is H or methyl group, substituted benzyl or d-phenhlethyl group.) are catalytically reduced with hydrogen in the presence of a Pd catalyst and, preferably a sulvent, e.g. a lower alcohol such as methanol, etc. at ordinary temperature and pressure to give compounds of formula II. Preferably, the reaction is carried out at 10W40°C for 0.5W4hr
