Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure correct detection of the data start-point by dividing the sink byte into more than one bit group which are distant by a fixed bit with each other and delivering the output when an agreement is detected for at least one set of the bit pattens.
CONSTITUTION: The sink byte is divided into, for example, the first bit group of the upper 5 bits and the second bit group of the lower 5 bits, and each of the bit patterns is set to "10101" and "11001" respecitvely. These bit pattrns are then shifted in sequentially to shift register 1 through the bit pattern detector circuit. The bit patterns of the first and second bit groups are detected via AND gate 2 and 3 to be put into OR gate 4 when the sink byte is shifted in completely. Accordingly, the sink byte is detected if at least eigher one of the bit patterns is normal, avoiding the effect of the error due to the local defect of the medium or the like. Thus, the start- point detection signal can be delivered in a correct way
