Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of defrosting, by feeding the liquid refrigerant condensed in a heat exchanger directly to other heat exchanger during the defrost.
CONSTITUTION: Decompression devices 9--9" such as an expansion valve for heating and interrupting valves 10--10" which are closed during defrost are connected in series to the inlet side of refrigerant of air heat exchangers 9--9" composing a heat exchanger 3 on the heat source side, and by-pass pipes 11--11" are also equipped together with check valves 12--12" which are open during the cooling operation, while solenoid valves 13--13", 14--14" are fitted in aprallel to a refrigerant outlet pipe 15 during the heating operation, the valves 13--13" being connected to a compressor 1 through a 4-way valve 16 and the valves 14--14" being connected to the discharge side 18 of the compressor through an auxiliary decompression device 17. When frost is developed on the heat exchanger 3 on the heat source side and the solenoid valve 13 is closed and the valve 14 is open, refrigerant gas from the compressor 1 flows in the air heat exchanger 4, becomes liquid through defrosting and further flows in the air heat exchanger 4' through the decompression device 20 for securing the amount of refrigerant circulating for defrost.
